Weapon Mod Database
Weapon mods are modifications made to weapons that change how they function, or alternatively, add additional auxiliary functions. There are a number of weapon mods that exist. Weapon mods can usually be installed on pre-existing weapons, but in some cases the referee may instead decide that a modification can only be added to a weapon as it is constructed.

Weapon Mod Descriptions
Auxiliary Weapon: For many mid or high tech military and paramilitary units, auxiliary weapons are a means of providing more niche weaponry without compromising a unit’s normal firepower, or requiring that specialists carry additional weapons. These are usually mounted under the barrel of a primary weapon, but “shoot through” mounts also exist. There are three types of auxiliary weapon, the most common, the auxiliary grenade launcher is a compact version of a break action grenade launcher, at higher tech level a version of this weapon that fires RAM grenades becomes much more common. The other auxiliary weapon, the auxiliary shotgun, is a single shot light shotgun that is generally used as a breaching weapon rather than as a fire support tool.
Bandolier: A Bandolier is a specialized weapon strap with loops for extra ammunition. A bandolier can carry 20 pistol or intermediate rounds, 14 rifle rounds, or 7 shotgun slugs. A bandolier is built to carry only one type of ammunition, and separate bandoliers must be made for each type of ammunition.
Bayonet Lug: A bayonet lug is simply a mount that allows a rifle to attach a bayonet. Baynet lugs are extremely common features of most military weapons up until the ascendency of energy weapons.
Bipod and Tripod: A bipod is a weapon stabilizer that can be deployed to make a heavy, hard to handle weapon easier to fire for weaker users. Taking two rounds to deploy, a bipod negates the penalties for bulky or very bulky weapons. Tripods allow a lighter vehicle scale weapon (up to 250 kg), to be used by unaugmented infantry after a similar setup time.
Gyrostabilizer and Grav Support: For those seeking a more mobile platform for heavy weapons, gyrostabilizers are light rigs that reduce the impact of very bulky weapons or remove penalties associated with carrying bulky weapons. At higher tech levels, grav support provides the same effect at a reduced weight.
Flashlight: Quite simply, the flashlight weapon modification is an attachment point and specialized flashlight attached under or alongside the barrel of a firearm, or along the side of an archaic ranged weapon.
High Capacity Magazine: Various forms of high capacity magazines exist that trade bulk and cost for double, quadruple, or even octuple magazine capacity.
Holographic Sights: An advanced scope the holographic sight is either a physical scope or complete holographic projection that projects a holographic sighting aid that can compensate for distance, gravity, wind or other adverse effects.
IFF Safety: The IFF Safety identifies friendly personnel, and prevents a weapon from firing on friendly targets. The IFF safety requires the use of IFF tags, three tags are sold with an IFF safety system with new tags needing to be purchased separately.
Integrated Sighting System: The integrated sighting system takes data from scopes and other sights, and projects them into a pair of smart goggles, or the HUD of a Vacc Suit, or a suit of Combat Armor, or Battle Dress. This allows a user to benefit from the effect of their scopes without having to aim down them.
Intelligent Weapon: The intelligent weapon modification is essentially a low powered computer that is attached to a weapon which can be used for normal programming, or as a base for some “smart” weapon modifications.
Mounted Laser Designator: A laser sight that, instead of aiding a user with their own targeting, can “paint” targets for guided vehicle or artillery scale weapons. It is also an effective rangefinding tool
Militarized Personal Heads-Up Display (P-HUD) Key: The militarized P-HUD is a device that has the same core functions of a standard personal HUD, but additionally helps correct the aim of the user of a connected weapon. When first introduced, Personal Heads-Up Displays must be attached to a pair of glasses, goggles, or a visor, higher tech level P-HUDs can be holographic displays requiring no such wearable to exist. P-HUDs only function when using a weapon with a special key linking it to the HUD, and P-HUDs are sold with one such key, with additional keys sold separately.
PSI Enhanced Targeting: Essentially a jumble of wires and psychoactive crystals, this weapon mod allows a psionic user to make use of their abilities to dramatically improve their aim, up to their PSI rating, but receives no other benefits used in conjunction with other sighting aids.
Red Dot Sight: The red dot sight is a short ranged sighting aid that marks on a target where the weapon will fire paired with a sight on the weapon itself. At higher tech levels the red dot sight can be equipped with a UV laser that requires a UV vision to see.
Return Fire Unit: Linked to a ballistic location sensor, the return fire unit can turn a weapon mounted on a tripod, or other stabilizing mount, into an impromptu automated turret by triggering a programmed reaction (usually returning fire) when the linked ballistic location sensor detects incoming fire.
Scan Jammer: A generally illegal modification to a weapon that is in effect a small jamming device that disrupts weapon scanners and makes it more difficult for a weapon to be detected by most scanners.
Scope: Starting a simple long range magnifiers that allow a user to aim accurately at long ranges, scopes become increasingly more advanced allowing for night vision use, enhanced reconnaissance ability, culminating in with the multispectral scope which is a highly advanced scope that combines the effects of earlier scopes as well as providing enhanced targeting capabilities.
Shoulder Stock: The shoulder stock is a modification made to pistols that give them a stock, turning a pistol into a light carbine. At higher tech levels, more advanced material science and design can produce a telescoping shoulder stock that saves weight and collapses when the user would prefer to use the weapon as a pistol.
Smart Tracker: A computerized sighting aid, when attached to a smart weapon, the smart tracker can be used to “tag” targets (a minor action), and dramatically improve accuracy against a marked target.
Suppressor: A suppressor is an attachment for slugthrowing firearms that suppress the noise of a discharge, while the effect doesn’t truly make a weapon silent (at least until higher tech levels), suppressors do make it harder to trace the report of firearms.
X-Ray Outlining Aid: A specialized sighting aid, the X-Ray outliner detects humanoid (or other programmed targets) entities behind thin concealment and projects an outline onto a heads up display. This removes the protection of concealment to some extent, though thicker materials ill still shield a target from the X-Ray outliner.
