Military Armor Database
Military armors are designed to be better resistant to incoming weapon attacks, and with combat in mind. As such they are usually the preserve of the military or of law enforcement in high threat environments, with almost anybody else forbidden from wearing it under most circumstances. This database covers light miltiary armors, combat armors powered and unpowered, and eventually the pinnacle of personal protection, Battledress.

Light Military Armor
Light military armors are classified as any military protective suit lighter than a suit of full Battledress. This can range from covert armors to powered plate that rivals battledress (often called Medium Armor instead). Light Military Armors usually require at least a security license to purchase though some forms of primitive military armor are less restricted in most societies.Military Armor Description
Ablative: Ablative or Ablat armor is a basic form of reflec standalone armor. It provides limited protection against most damage, but can protect against lasers fairly effectively. It ablates however, some of the material being vaporized with each impact slowly degrading the effectiveness of this armor as it is exposed to repeated fire.
Boarding Vacc Suit: A hardened version of the archetypical Vacc Suit designed to protect the wearer against hostile environments, much like the HEV Suit. Whereas the HEV suit is designed to protect against extremes of atmosphere however, the Boarding Vacc Suit is at equivalent tech levels, better equipped to radiation and battle damage.
Breastplate: The breastplate is a primitive form of armor consisting of a metal cuirass and light helmet that protects against hand weapons and early projectives. It however, struggles against modern firearms and energy weapons, its limited protections halved against weapons of a higher tech level. Advanced breastplates are perhaps the most common of antique armors made of modern materials to be resistant against modern weapons. They are common among those who appreciate the fanciful stylings of antiquated armor, but want protection against modern weaponry.
Ceramic Carapace: Composed of a specifically shaped cuirass of ceramic and ballistic materials, the Ceramic Carapace is designed to protect particularly well against lasers, and heat in addition to its decent, if modest protection against ballistic firearms.
Ceramic Combat Armor: Ceramic Combat Armor is a specialized form of combat armor composed of advanced ceramic components that provide additional protection against heat and laser weaponry.
Ceramic Powered Plate: Ceramic Powered Plate is a specialized form of powered plate that is designed to provide additional protections against lasers in comparison to other forms of powered plate.
Cloth: Composed of ballistic cloth interlaced with light metals and ceramic materials, cloth armor is adept at absorbing the energy of incoming impacts. At lower tech levels it takes the form of a plated coverall or vest that can be concealed under clothing though it is fairly easy (Routine 6+ check) to spot. More advanced versions of the armor are thinner, more flexible, and easier to conceal, or indeed the armor can be woven into regular clothing, which is typically demilitarized as the clothing weave cloth armor.
Combat Armor: Combat Armor is a complete suit of medium duty military armor composed of synthetic and metal components. It doubles as a vacc suit and protects against most environments for up to six hours, though there are onboard recyclers that can increase this capacity to twelve hours if the wearer is not unduly exerting themselves.
Combat Environment Suit: The Combat Environment Suit is a militarized version of the Environment Suit. It has the same environmental protections as the Environment Suit, but it has modest protection against weaponry. Its recyclers are considerably more advanced allowing indefinite wear.
Conduit-Bleed: Specifically designed to protect against plasma weaponry, Conduit-Bleed can be worn over many armors, but is bulky enough that doing so limits the fine motor controls of the wearer.
Dispersion Sheath: A Dispersion Sheath is a lightweight body sheath that provides protection against most forms of energy, including radiation. As is the case with most energy armors the dispersion sheath can be worn over most standard armors.
Discreet Operations Uniform: Designed as a militarized version of the civilian clothing weave cloth, Discreet Operations Uniforms are light armors designed to appear as normal military uniforms, like those that would be worn by liaison officers and other soldiers not on combat duty. It is virtually undetectable as armor. DOUs have concealed pouches for a light weapon such as a sidearm and some ammo for it. The DOU can be paired with a field operations kit which includes combat webbing and an optional flak jacket. The DOU with a field kit is obviously armor, but provides better protection, more space for equipment and ammunition, and is still considered more appropriate in civilized society than most military armors.
Field Dress: Field Dress is not necessarily standalone armor so much as it is a coverall worn underneath another set of armor that provides protection against chemical and biological attack, as well as making the wearer more difficult to detect on thermal sensors.
Flak Jacket: Consisting of a rigid sleeveless vest made of ballistic fibers and generally including a helmet, flak jackets are a staple of middle tech cheap armors. Flak Jackets can, in theory, be concealed under clothing though it is easily detected and doing so is more for courtesy than any genuine attempt to hide the armor.
Flak Shell: Flak Shells are a heavy duty version of Flak Jackets, typically with reinforced plates, and light protection for the arms and legs. They provide more protection but are cumbersome and impose difficulties when using skills involving fine motor control.
Full Plate: Full Plate Armor is a full body, heavy suit of metal armor that is resistant to most weapons of its tech level, it is fairly well distributed, but still imposes some restrictions on the movement of the wearer. It also performs extremely poorly against higher tech weapons, though more advanced versions with better materials can be commissioned to protect against modern weaponry.
Grav Enhanced Powered Plate: An advanced form of Powered Plate armor, Grav Enhanced Powered Plate uses gravitic technology to vastly improve the ergonomics of its predecessor. It features better life support, greater mobility and strength enhancement, and a far superior battery life than powered plate as well as providing better protection.
Half-Plate: Half-Plate is constructed in a manner similar to Full Plate but eschews some protection in favor of greater weight and mobility. Like all other traditional military armors, its protection is halved against weapons of superior technology, but some versions of Half-Plate exist that protect against more modern weapons.
Mail Hauberk: A shirt or knee length garment composed of metallic rings called mail, and typically including a helmet. Similar laminar, lamellar, or scale armors exist that provide the same protection. Mail Hauberks are more vulnerable to more modern weapons, and Mail Hauberks and their equivalents are the least likely to have modernized versions available.
Mechanical Carapace: A precursor to Powered Plate and Combat Armor, the mechanical carapace consists of a relatively primitive suit of armor covering a system of pneumatics and ratchets forming a simple exoskeleton. The Mechanical Carapace lacks life support capability, and is fueled with chemical fuels rather than a battery (10 hour life, GCr25 per refuel). It does however have a full, if relatively primitive vacc suit electronics suite.
Neural Sheath: Consisting of cloth interwoven with psychoactive crystals, the Neural Sheath is designed for one purpose. Protecting the wearer against psionic attacks. It can be worn underneath most armors, notably including Battledress, if made into a specially prepared body suit (cost GCr85.000) and provides ample protection against psionic abilities.
Parditech Powered Plate: The most advanced form of medium military armor known to man, Parditech Powered Plate incorporates a number of technologies that improve its capabilities beyond even that of Grav Enhanced Powered Plate. It dramatically improves mobility, has similar battery life to GEPP, and provides better protection. Each plate has a nanite core that allows the suit to repair itself to a limited degree against most personal scale weaponry.
Polycarapace: Polycarapace is the ultimate in light military armors. It is composed of a bodysuit and helmet made of layered fibrous composites from ballistic plastics at lower tech levels, to nanite core Parditech variants at the edge of human understanding. Early Polycarapace is very protective, but inhibits the movements of the wearer, but as material sciences become more advanced, higher tech suits of Polycarapace are lighter weight and easier to move around in.
Powered Plate: Powered Plate is essentially a powered version of Combat Armor, its basic structure is roughly the same with metal and composite components, though the Powered Plate also includes an exoskeleton that enhances the strength of the wearer, energy provided by a power cell that lasts a hundred hours. When powered it enhances the strength of the wearer. It has life support and a Vacc suit grade electronics suite. The suit is incredibly bulky however, and limits the mobility of the wearer.
Psi-Enhanced Combat Armor: An advanced form of combat armor that replaces some of the material components with psychoactive crystals, Psi-Enhanced Combat Armor allows a psionically gifted user to passively use their abilities to psionically harden the defenses of the suit against incoming fire.
Reflec: Consisting of a sheath composed of reflective materials on plastic, Reflec is intended to be worn over other armors to provide supplemental protection against laser weaponry.
Tactical Riot Armor: Intended for militarized law enforcement, for use against rioting or rebellious citizens, tactical riot armor is a heavy suit composed of ballistic materials. It is specifically designed to look intimidating and makes it easier for wearers to scare opponents into submission.

Battledress
Battledress is the preeminent personal armor available to humankind and is classified as heavy armor. An advanced form of powered armor (with a 12 hour power cell duration), Battledress, when powered, enhances both the strength and agility of the user, and supports their own weight, eliminating the encumbrance weight of the suit. All suits of Battledress are designed to operate in hostile environments and have a life support system equivalent to a TL appropriate suite of HEV armor, with support duration of 12 hours.Battledress Descriptions
Artillery Battledress: Artillery Battledress is intended to carry heavy weapons that would normally be too much even for regular battledress wearers. It has enhanced servos that allow the wearer to mount multiple heavy weapons including vehicle scale weapons, with relative ease, and allows the wearer to carry a vehicle scale weapon in their hands (subject to the same limitations a heavy weapons mount would impose). However, these heavy duty servos struggle with fine motor control, imposing a -2 DM penalty on attack rolls made with most handheld weapons (those that use Gun Combat rather than Heavy Weapons). Artillery Battledress, perhaps due to the additional fire the wearer is likely to come under, is better armored than most other forms of battledress.
Assault Battledress: Assault Battledress is a heavy duty form of the armor that is optimized for boarding actions. It is, as a result, more heavily armored than standard battledress and better protected against radiation as well. Assault Battledress additionally is somewhat more modable than standard suits as well, though in reality this is mostly to allow the suit to mount heavy weapons. It is however more expensive, and allegedly, less mobile, than standard battledress.
Battledress: The standard entry level battledress suit that has become fairly widespread in the galaxy. It is generally well rounded compared to most other suits with a strong balance between mod capability, mobility, and protection. It is also a good deal cheaper than most other forms of battledress making it much more common than almost every other variant.
Ceramic Battledress: Its plate materials composed of energy resistant ceramics, Ceramic Battledress is optimized specifically to provide greater protection against energy weapons, and indeed, is virtually impregnable to handheld versions of that class of weapon.
Combat Pioneer Battledress: Specialized for combat pioneers and NBC scouts, Combat Pioneer Battledress is slightly heavier and considerably more expensive than standard suits, but has enhanced sensor suites optimized for detecting hazardous agents, and a backpack with a host of engineering and field decontamination tools. Combat Pioneer Battledress is also capable of self-decon.
Command Battledress: Command Battledress, sometimes called Elite Battledress is a more expensive version of the suit intended for junior officers, but has since found itself issued to special forces teams, and formations seeking enhanced capabilities without access to Ultima suits, command suits possess an enhanced communication, command and control suite, and greater space for modification than standard suits.
Logistics Battledress: A relative rarity among military forces that don’t have plenty of extra resources, logistics battledress sacrifices any mobility enhancement for extreme load bearing capabilities. This allows the wearer to carry staggering amounts of supplies, including vehicle loads of ammunition, field repair kits, or spare battledress suits in a single trip. This suit is primarily used by field mechanics and supply runners in battedress equipped infantry units with a limited vehicle footprint. They also, find a fair amount of use by field medics who use it to carry staggering amounts of medical supplies in addition to being able to haul around wounded unit members on their own.
Pardica Battledress: Also called Parditech Battledress, Pardica Battledress is the ultimate expression of battledress. Using advanced power cell technologies, lab grown muscle tissues, the most advanced robotics technology and nanites, Pardica battledress incorporates the strengths of most other suits of battledress while also having greater strength and mobility and being much more customizable than all previous suits. Pardica suits are only manufactured on a few extremely high tech worlds and are very rare and coveted as a result.
Psi-Enhanced Battledress: Psi-Enhanced battledress is a rare version of the armor that utilizes psychoactive crystals in its construction allowing a psionic user to use their abilities to enhance the protection the suit provides.
Psi-Commando Battledress: An enhanced version of the Psi-Enhanced suits, Psi-Commando Battledress has both psychoactive crystals and additionally has advanced psi-enhanced computers that augment the user’s abilities. In addition to enhanced protection, Psi-Commando suits count as a wearer’s body when teleporting, and double the distance a wearer can teleport with their psionic abilities.
Scout Battledress: Scout Battledress, though officially designed for scouting purposes, more generally trades protection for enhanced mobility. Scout battledress suits, in addition to more normal enhanced mobility have built in grav assist, akin to a TL appropriate grav belt that allow the wearer to fly to a certain extent.
Ultima Battledress: Prior to the advent of Parditech, Ultima Battledress represented the pinnacle of the technology. Ultima Battledress, a family consisting of the Type 066 Battledress designed for the Sol Sector Forces, and its derivatives, provided enhanced armor protection, greater mobility, enhanced command and control software, and the sensor suite and self decon capabilities of Pioneer Battldress.
