Junction System
Formerly one of the most prosperous star systems in the galaxy, the Junction System now is a forbidden zone, closed to anyone save a handful of Solar navy patrols. The Junction System was one of the first settled colonies of a united humanity, and its capital world, Gaia Cosmia quickly become a wealthy and prosperous planet as it developed an indigenous economic base centered around the production of luxury goods, and tourism to a lesser extent. It became famous as the Headquarters of Dictys Shipyards, Stele Medical , and United Automata among other companies. However, during the closing days Jred Scourge, the Junction System was host to a major battle around Gaia Cosmia. This ruinous battle triggered the The Great Cataclysm, which shattered the worlds of the system, and left it desolate. Now the Junction System is cosmic tomb, filled with wrecked ships, deceased Jred bioforms, shattered worlds, and the graves of untold billions of people. Access is forbidden to almost anyone on pain of death, and only the bravest scavengers are willing to face the Solar Navy to find trinkets in the remains.
Major Celestial Bodies
Primary Star
UWP-S 05 Alpha Epsilon "Wolf 359/Lupa" L6VThe central star of the Junction System, known as Wolf 359, or historically as Lupa when the system was settled, is a former red dwarf star. However, during the Great Cataclysm, the fusion processes of the star were disrupted, and the star has been cooling at a rapid pace, effectively reduced to a dying Brown Dwarf, a central, barely luminous husk lighting the tomb of a dead star system.
Major Orbiting Bodies
0 Reme
UWP - Y000000-0Formerly an extremely hot, mineral rich, small world near its parent star, what's left of Reme is a cluster of shattered rocks in space slowly being spread by the faces of gravity into a minor planetoid belt. Among the rocks, it is believed one can find the remains of mining equipment more advanced than anything in service, secretly operated by Dictys Shipyards as a source for its baroque, virtually impossible to replicate metals used in components of Dictys ships.
2 Rom
UWP - Y000000-0A slightly larger planet discovered even before the first humans arrived in the system Rom was once and hub for manufacturing too polluting to be done on the more pleasant worlds in the system. Now it is a cluster of debris, unlike its smaller brother, Rom may once again bind itself back together, the larger portions of the planet more capable of bringing the debris back together. Rom was host to fierce fighting during the Scourge and the remains of many warships and Jred organisms can be found among the rocks.
4 Vetus
USP-2 - Small GG (Former)Formerly the larger of Wolf 359's gas giants, Vetus's gas cloud was scattered by the Cataclysm and all that remains is a dense core of liquid antimatter, steadily eating the remains of Vetus' innermost moons. 2a-10 Vetian Ring UWP - YR00000-0
The Vetian Ring consists of the remnants of most of Vetus' inner moons, save Gaia Cosmia, which form an unusually thick ring around Vetus, interspersed with the wreckage of the battles fought here. The ring is slowly being depleted as chunks of the ring collide with Vetus' core and are annihilated.
2a-60 Gaia Cosmia UWP - X000000-0
Formerly the capital world of the Junction System, the world of Gaia Cosmia was remarkably earthlike, a true jewel of the Sol Sector. However, both as a result of the vicious fighting and of the Great Catacylsm, the shattered remains of Gaia Cosmia and its moon are mixed with one of the largest ship's graveyards in the galaxy. What is left of Gaia Cosmia is essentially a stellar tomb, a testament to the destruction of the largest battle and catastrophe in known galactic history.
9 Sagitarius
USP-2 - Small GG (Former)Called Sagitarius for its tendency to "shoot" rocks into the inner system, Sagittarius was far away from the rest of the system, barely touched by its light. Now, with its gas cloud scattered into the void, and the star much colder and darker than it used to be, little if anything is known about what is left. The few expeditions allowed into the system to chart it were instructed to leave long before they could arrive at Sagitarius. Its possible nothing remains there at all, but many spacers think the Union of Sol has hidden some facility around the remnant of Sagitarius, hidden in the dark.
USSP - Junction 0309 L6V 9 0 A recording of the Great Catacylsm which destroyed the system.
