Drumsten

Drumsten is a small farming village of less than 500 people, almost entirely NecroMaji. Those few who do know of it do so because of its strange case of both a lack of monsters in the area and its excellently fertile soil, a rare occurrence in the NecroVerse. They are also known for their unusually pungent Devil-Of -Death goat cheese. It was founded by a recent group of settlers given permission by the Xant Empire for the purpose of going deeper into the frontier of the Wastes of the Condemned. Despite it close proximity to the Wastes, Drumsten does not suffer from any drought, famine, or monsters, and hasn't since its founding. This is certainly an unusual thing given all of those are relatively common in the Wastes, even on the outskirts. Drumsten is known to be the longest standing settlement so close to the Wastes, but nobody knows particularly what keeps such awful things at bay.

Government

Drumsten runs under a democratic mayorship in which a mayor is elected every 5 years, with no limit of how many terms one can serve.

Defences

Drumsten has a small militia that seems to be so laid back as to never actually do anything. Perhaps once a week someone will catch a child stealing a sweet roll, but monsters such as the NecroVerse is known for rarely come across the town.

Industry & Trade

Drumsten is primarily a farming village. Most of its inhabitants take up the profession as their main source of income thanks to the unusually fertile soil.

Assets

Drumsten's coffers are not extensive in any regard, but a pretty penny comes the way of those in power.

History

Drumsten was only founded a couple decades ago as a rare spot of fertile ground in the NecroVerse. It was then that the local priest discovered a heart buried in the ground. It told him that it was the heart of Ba'alNecro, his patron god, and that it required a sacrifice to keep the land bountiful and the monsters away. Convinced that the heart was what it said it was, the priest decided to secretly sacrifice one child to the heart each year on the 10th of Apocalypse. After a few years, he slowly began to lose his mind and acted more paranoid in his daily life. And after the already corrupt mayor got involved in the process 2 years ago, things only got more complicated.

Tourism

Drumsten doesn't really get visitors. Locals are often put off by newcomers in town, but are generally welcoming of anyone willing to keep their distance.

Geography

Drumsten is mainly farmland with a small residential and commercial district in the center of it. On the main road is a line of stands selling various things, and at the end is a small temple to Ba'alNecro, where most of the inhabitants congregate once a week. The actual geography is reminiscent of a temperate savanna with slightly more trees and grass.

Natural Resources

Most of the resources farmed by Drumsten's inhabitants consist of grain and cattle with a smaller amount of fruit and lumber from the orchards in the outskirts.
