Eblis

Eblis are close relatives to the common heron, though vastly different internally. Eblis stand around 8 feet tall with their heads fully raised, and appear much like a heron, though with colourful plumage atop their heads and at the tip of their wings. Eblis travel in large groups, and will sometimes even construct primitive settlements.
As the most intelligent avian species on Tellus, they are fully capable of utilising wizardry, favouring illusion magic to stun and scare predators, put on shows to impress mates, and conceal themselves when hunting prey.   The intelligence of eblis is comparable to many other 'civilised' species, such as humans, and are considered by many to be among the likes of them; the only reason they aren't is because of their views on collaboration with other species, of which to say, is none. Not to say that there aren't specific cases of eblis who tolerate and even live amongst other species, but as a whole they are quite xenophobic.
Eblis have their own language, but non-eblis find it very difficult to speak, same as eblis find it very hard to speak other languages; however, some eblis wizards are capable of casting spells to circumvent this, such as the spell tongues.
