Stewards of Wrest
The stewards of Wrest, sometimes disparagingly called 'spiders', are a small group of people hired by the Nebograd Republic to tend to the Wrest Tree. They are usually locals of the the Roots, and engage in what is considered to be 'dangerous' work, spending their days suspended in ropes and harnesses in the high branches of the tree, attracting tourists.
Stewards are well-respected in Nebograd, and are afforded funereal parades if they pass away while working. They act as community leaders in the Roots, and are granted the freedom to select new stewards. The eldest of the stewards is considered the leader of all stewards.
