Below are the words I've defined in the many languages of the Great Ring so far, with a link to the individual language articles.
Bahasa
- Karajan: The Bahasa word for kingdom.
Basa Sliwir
- Dukun Agang: In the Basa Sliwir language, a Dukun Agang is a "Great Shaman" - it is a title given to important religious leaders.
Cymbraġec
- Tuthoeġ: The Cymbraġec term for tribes or clan. The singular is tuthoġ.
Dzarba
- Amenokal: The leader of a Tigzirin tribe.
Eileanach
- Brà: An Eileanach word used to address a male friend, short for bràthair, or brother.
- Floe: The floating structures of the Dòbhran Selkies which serve as their homes and central warehouses, allowing them to fish and hunt for their sustenance. A Selkie floe is a collection of individual barges that can be lashed together, usually with a space of open water in the center of the floe.
- Sàirdseant: An Eileanach word that translates roughly to sergeant.
Eyjamannaræða
Gagana
- 'Alia: The Gagana word for the ships known for their double-hull design and triangular sails.
- Aiga: The Gagana word for tribe or family, typically used to refer to those who share a communal nest.
- Faifāitonu: The Gagana word for a shaman, one who aligns the people and the Aku.
- Fale'ofā'ao: The communal nest at the heart of every Mu'o'a community.
- Fofoa: The term used by the Mu'o'a for a child; it translates roughly to "hatchling".
- Matai: A chief or leader of a Mu'o'a community.
- Mu'a: The collective customs and rules that make up the way the Mu'o'a live.
- Vaivai: A Mu'o'a word of derision, applied to those who needed help to break out of their egg. Roughly translates to weakling.
Hizkuntza
- Buruzagi: A title in the Kingdom of Herria, roughly equivalent to "Prince" but implying authority and responsibility over a particular region.
Inselsprach
- Cynn: The Inselsprach word for clan or tribe. It is sometimes spelled Cynne.
- Heretoga: The leader of a Cynn.
- Schandrat: An Inselsprach term of contempt, roughly translating to shameful rodent, but more derisive.
Itak
- Utakku: The Itak word for a group bound by shared ancestry and spiritual lineage, roughly equivalent to tribe or clan.
Jezik
- Rod: The Jezik word for the community that shares a nesting site. Similar to 'family', 'tribe', or 'community' in human languages.
Kaphtorikós
- Phylai: The tribes of the Kaphtori are called phylí (singular), or phylai (plural).
Ma Lomoso
- Jaji: A Ma Lomoso term for a regional governor, used in the Kingdom of Kodu. It translates literally as "Keeper".
Mekonggan
- Kosalo: The divine order of the universe, according to Mekongga philosophy.
Mytesya
- Yenuttala: The Mytesya word for tribe or family, typically used to refer to those who share a communal nest.
Nagari
- Bamsam: The Naga word for a group of related individuals who share a communal nest.
- Hansee ka Pyaar: The Nagahasana school of philosophy around laughter. It translates to 'Love of Laughter'.
Pananalita
- Katulong: A personal assistant to a member of the Tagápulo royal family, or other high nobility in the Tagápulo Empire.
Rengota
- Dyo: The Chilseongsin word for a group of related individuals who share a communal nest.
Saarenkieli
- Sukuja: The Saarenkieli term for kin-based clans or tribes. Suku is the singular form.
Ta Rē Iti
- Etua: The gods of the Tui Iti who live in the Rekauri Archipelago
Tanahti
Tāngatāiki
- Atua-kura: A being born of both mortal and Atua ancestry.
- Failauga: According to Tulafafo, the Tāngata for dealing with outsiders, the Failauga is responsible for all external interactions.
- Hapū: The Tāngatāiki word for clan or association. Most Tāngata are members of multiple hapū.
- Marae: A place sacred to the Atua.
- Ngārara: The Tāngatāiki name for the Kikipua.
- Rārantira: The Tāngatāiki word for the leader of a clan or association, known as a hapū.
- Tōhuka: A shaman among the Tāngata.
- Tohungatua: A Tāngatāiki word for a person who shares a mystical bond with one of the Atua, beyond that of a normal priest, an Avatar.
Unugtitut
Wungataula
- Mawuliwuli: The Wungataula word for the community which shares a communal nest and tomb. Singular is mawuli.
Yanjinese
- Kaiyō Taishō: A senior captain in the navy of the Empire of Wamato, who could command several vessels.
- Kamon: Yanjin emblems used to identify a noble family.
- Reiji: The practitioners of the Folk Magic tradition of Kōdō, Reiji means "Spirit Master" in Yanjinese.
- Seiryoku: The Yanjinese term for the energy contained in a person's spirit, which empowers all forms of True Magic.
- Shinmon: The Yanjinese term for a mystical sigil used in the art of Mahōbori, or magical tattooing.
