Óros Ídhi (ˈoros ˈiði)
Óros Ídhi is the tallest mountain in the Kaphtor Islands, and the physical body of the god Ídhi. It rises high over the southern half of Nisi, and is the holiest place in the world to the Kaphtori Aethry. The Temple of Ídhi is the only strucure permitted on the mountain, and the priests of the temple are the sole authority over all that occurs on its slopes, above even the laws of the Kingdom of Nisi.
Notable Spirits
While the mountain is named for Ídhi, he is not the only spirit who inhabits it. The ground beneath the mountain is the heart of Éra, the mother of Ídhi and spirit of Nisi itself. The caves below the mountain are sacred to Éra, and while few Aethry are comfortable underground, it is traditional for expectant mothers to descend to the cave known as I Mítra tis Éra to seek her blessing upon their pregnancy and labor.
The air around Óros Ídhi is also home to multiple spirits. It is well-known that the clouds that wreathe the summit are the thoughts and dreams of Ídhi. Sometimes, these daydreams of a god take on an identity of their own, and become one of the Aurae. These nymphs of the wind embody ideas, and are typically short-lived. A few have become a part of Aethry folklore and established themselves more firmly. Of these, the best known (and most feared) is the aurae known as Chtypón. She is believed to be connected to the phenomenon known as Touching the Sun, which can drive an Aethry to a sudden death.
