History

Viggo found the wild girl in the Orc Wilds while on a small-scale mission assigned to his squad by General Haskell. While traversing through the barbarous land the squad heard fighting in a small forested region and went to investigate, looking for a fight and potential loot. They found a small hybrid girl with horns, goat legs, and a scorpion tail fighting against a group of goblin hunters. The girl wore tattered rags and closely clutched a plush toy to her chest. The squad was eager to intervene, but Viggo held them at bay, insisting they watch instead.    The girl fought with wild aggression, killing each goblin with merciless bites of her teeth or stings of her tail. When the hunters all lay dead or dying Viggo approached the young creature, and she lashed out at him, sending her stinger right for Viggo's throat. He caught her tail with a steel grip and lifted her off the ground by it as she bit and scratched towards him. "You're too strong to die out here little Chimera. . ." was all he said before kicking her in the temple and throwing her over his shoulder. Viggo carried the girl around with him for a week as his squad slew a dangerous group of trolls and returned to Halstein. Throughout she made attempts on his life, none worth any commitment to song or memory. With Kjartan Isak Viggo openly contemplated the origins of the girl and assumed she was perhaps some simic hybrid escaped from a facility. Maybe one day she would find out if she was worthy of life. Many of his comrades tried to dissuade him from taking her in due to her age and wildness, but he was content to see her strength grow.    Once at Halstein, she had to be locked away in a separate room as Viggo slowly taught her norsekan, and basic social stability, while of course preparing her for combat. When she was well enough to be around the other children she moved into dorms with them, mostly silent and cautious, similar to her now father. Viggo watched with pride as she effortlessly passed the basic strength, endurance, and martial aptitude trials. On the morning of her first combat trial, Viggo said to her "Pass this trial little Chimera and you shall prove yourself worthy of the order, and a name. If you fail and survive I will spare you a life of servitude and cast you into the ocean myself." So when the hybrid girl emerged from the confines of the castle she approached the crowd of Stormcloaks gathered around the pit with her chin raised and fists clenched. The winds had been whipped into a brutal gale, one mixed with the heavy rain and sea spray common to Halstein. Viggo nodded at this sign as if Thor himself had decided to watch the fate of this girl unfold. The young scorpkin captive struggled against it's heavy chains, so desperate for sweet escape it stung the cold metal and bit it with its teeth. Supreme Storm General Asmund raised his hand and high-ranking clerics presented the hybrid with weapons to choose and instinctively she took a crude half-haft hammer. The scorpkin was released from its chains and the pair engaged in a brutal fight in which the girl nearly lost her life, but in a final moment of brutal strength, she bashed the head of the scorpkin in and won her life and her name. "Desta." spoke Viggo as the storm howled led it's sounds of triumph, "Desta is your name."    Viggo was closely invested in Desta's training, taking her under his instruction once she was old enough for proper selection. He drilled her to the bone by day and regaled her stories of triumph he, Kjartan Isak, and others of his close circle won with Thunder and Lightning. Desta closely looked up to him and pushed herself further and further into the potential of her enhanced biology. Viggo would not be satisfied and every completed trial warranted another more rigorous one. Interested in potentially learning more about her origins and also inspired by the oratory skills of Viggo, Desta joined the Bardic Specialists of the Stormcloaks and began to harness the magic of music and rhythm.    With might and now magic it was obvious to Viggo that she would need a true test of field combat to determine whether or not his daughter was worthy of her raw talent or if it was wasted on her. That test would come in the form of the Halstein Jungle against the forces of The Scoprkin Uprising . . .

Relationship Reasoning

Viggo saw the strength in Desta when she fought for her survival. Viggo saw a lot of himself in her, a scared child who was desperate to live. To him, it's his responsibility to make sure Desta stays strong and continues to push herself so she can live since he believes that those who are weak are destined to die in dishonor. Desta sees Viggo as the first person who has taken care of her, and even though he is harsh and brutal gentle care and nurture shine their way through his Stormcloak violence.

Commonalities & Shared Interests

Both parties enjoy training, respect strength, admire loyalty, and enjoy history and stories.

A tiefling hybrid created by the Simic Ascendancy as a living weapon. She was adopted as a young child and raised as a Stormcloak by Viggo Sigrid, her Commander.

The Looming Storm

Scorpos 20th, 20 AR I understand that all families fight sometimes; our family is no different. I know this, but I can’t stand the constant fighting and bickering between Herald and Lash. It is always about something so small, silly, or stupid. I don’t understand why Lash instigates all the time or why Herald always has to blow up and make things bigger than they are. It’s my duty to keep our family together and protect everyone, but they won’t listen to me. I fear they don’t view me as their cleric. Even Diana, my closest friend since my “awakening”, refused to lean on me and share her concerns! I had to convince her to share, though I am glad I did, that Sparky, one of her hounds, was about to be put down.   I dislike lying as I am an extension of Thor and know that it is unbecoming of him, however Diana is convinced that I can lie to Hound Master Skoll. If dirtying myself saves Diana and Sparky then I hope Thor can forgive me with his all-knowing wisdom and protection.   I have never feared for my Papa before today. The look on his face and tremble in his voice when he saw that strange object in Lash’s hand shook me. It was one of both excitement and fear.   Papa took me with him to find out more about the gear he called it, the one Lash had. We explored Stonewash together! I hadn’t realized how much I missed being around my family, just us. No training, studying, or added stress. Just me and Papa. Our fun day ended when we met the Apothecary lady “Granny Annie” as she preferred to be called. Papa was on edge the entire time we were with her. I tried being polite like Papa taught me but I couldn’t help also feeling nervous around her. Seeing Papa like that made me feel anxious like something unknown was trying to hurt us.   I can’t believe this day. What is becoming of my home?! A poor Scorpkin man slain a short distance from the Apothecary just barely within the Skav Yor. It was awful to see such violence in the Allfather's land. I feel as though a darkness is coming to threaten my family. I can only hope that this letter I found on the man’s body brings the truth of the matter to light.
