Our Lady's Mercy
Veiled priestesses go door-to-door in the city of Nathrezzar, giving food, drink and medical aid to those less fortunate, welcomed in with open arms and warm smiles. They even gift toys to children who they have given medical examinations to, easing the pain of syringes.
On the surface, the group that goes by "Our Lady's Mercy" (in reference to it's founder, the Arch Countessa Renthalia Maladav) is a benevolent, charitable group that seeks to aid those that cannot afford even the basic necessities. However, something sinister rots just beneath the rosy exterior, beyond the gifts and smiles.
Structure
The structure is fairly simple - there are the hundreds of priestesses that patrol the streets, sharing what they can with people that need it, and the archpriestesses, who coodinate their movements from their home beneath Nathrezzar's royal palace. In reality, the Arch Countess herself sits at the top, receiving updates and giving commands to the archpriestesses who pass them down.
Public Agenda
The priestesses within the organisation's ranks are out on the streets every day carrying large bags, giving medical tests and examinations to whoever they can, entirely free of charge. To convince townspeople of their good intentions, they offer food and water, opening many doors. They publically proclaim their intention as compassionate, helping those in need. Few people would turn away a priestess, a symbol of goodwill and kindness.
Behind closed doors, however, there is an ulterior motive. With every examination, blood samples are taken. Small vials fill the bags of the priestesses, all catalogued and noted. This blood makes its way back to the catacombs of Nathrezzar, where the clergy analyse and archive all new blood samples. This includes information such as blood type, diet, diseases and "quality", a factor that relates to the proteins and enzymes found within the sample.
Assets
Our Lady's Mercy has been around for at least a century, hoarding blood samples and information on nearly every citizen of Nathrezzar. The Blood Archives are a place that few have ever seen, even within the organisation.
