"The Poor Man's God", the Bane of Pyrus Fairmane
Those down on their luck often turned to Faust, the poor turning to fickle luck and chance in an attempt to climb the social and economic ladder of the world. Occasionally they rebounded into luxury and power, but more often they fell into debt, forever shackled to a loan snake or, even worse... to Faust himself.
Faust ruled his domain – including the gambling haven of Fortune's Coast – like a kingpin. He viewed his people (Yuan-Ti & other debtors) as playthings at best and disposable trash at worst. As such, most residents of Fortune’s Coast – Faust’s center of affairs – were struggling to make ends meet, often coerced or forced to turn to the high-risk casinos to try (in vain) for a better life. The more they tried, the further under Faust’s control they fell. While Faust was known for making personal appearances (a spectacle that was more terrifying than awe-inducing), he generally let his Loan Snakes handle things.
On Yuan-Ti. Faust and Avahilthe fought over "domain rights" to Yuan-Ti as a species. Without the protection of another Spirit (or Antagonist), it was difficult – if not impossible – for a Yuan-Ti to break free from Faust's influence, especially if they were in debt.
Fall to Corruption. Over time, Faust became bored with his Yuan-Ti playthings and, while he’d always played “cat and snake” with Pyrus Fairmane, he began to aggressively and recklessly chase the “high” that their encounters gave him. His adrenaline junkie, thrill-seeking behavior led both Pyrus and Faust to corruption.

The Poor Man's Boon – A single, orange and white poker chip with 12 equidistant sections, 6 of which contain one face of a 6-sided die. The boon sends a surge of adrenaline through whoever holds it; a feeling that could easily become addicting.
