Dhavanti Zad

Say whatever you will, but I’m only here for what was promised. A deal struck is as good and binding as Geryon’s Law where I come from.

Merchants with religious ties to Prospera are known across the Jalasaran continent for their discerning eye, knack for striking advantageous deals, and their ruthless pursuit of bargains they were – or believe they were – promised. Dhavanti Zad received her training within the Temple of Prospera and has established herself as a top merchant in the most coveted specialization: Moonstone trade. Through cunning, the right words spoken to the right people, and perhaps a bit of cutthroat behavior, Dhavanti secured the last Moonstone deal with the Moonlit Rise. However, her promised Moonstones never arrived. Never one to sit around, Dhavanti has travelled to the Moonlit Rise to seek an audience with the Silverlight – or Kesar’Arrat himself. And she won’t be leaving without her Moonstones.

On the outside, Dhavanti comes across as a charismatic, shrewd, and materialistic (perhaps even greedy) individual who makes all major decisions based on potential monetary gain and/or loss. To some, the Prosperan merchant comes across as heartless and devoid of compassion. If that interpretation of her character bothers her, Dhavanti doesn’t show it. Rather, she seems perfectly fine leaning into the stereotypes commonly associated with her religious upbringing. While Dhavanti is passionate about the Moonstone trade, enjoys crunching numbers, and delights in making deals, she’s a caring and concerned mother at her core. And the Moonlit Rise is her husband’s home; she can kill two birds with one stone: support her family by getting her Moonstones and find evidence to assure her husband that everything is fine in the Moonlit Rise… right?
