Library of New Brook
Purpose / Function
The original purpose of the library was to act as a learning center, evacuation center, and to act as a daycare and childcare center in the summer. It would be the location for meetings, and in mornings before school the kids would gather there to wait for the bus.
Alterations
After the fall Diane Finch started using this library as a home base. She created a fence with a mixture of chain link fence, chicken wire, and wood. She created a chicken coup and stole chickens that were farther away at a farm. She also made the back of the library into a big garden, stealing potted plants from her neighbor's gardens.
Architecture
The library has 2 stories, along with a new updated wing of the library. The library has a wall of windows in the newer wing, though in the older wing there are much fewer, since it is used as a storm shelter. The front most doors are wood, but the secondary ones are glass. They have a fountain in the front of the library and they have a few trees.
Defenses
The Front door is a heavy wooden door, there is a transition room with glass doors next, this room can be used for decontamination and in case of a lock down or storm, the librarians can lock the doors well.
History
Four years before the apocalypse the library got a new wing added on due to the amount of things that started being hosted there, and due to increased budget from child care and federal funding.
Tourism
Not exactly Tourism but after the apocalypse multiple Nomadic Traders would stop on their journeys to get trade, shelter, and food. There is a whole lot of nothing between the towns so most would just miss the New Brook library and go a longer route hitting a bigger city. But quite a few do stop here since the libraries and settlements are few and far between and they can get informational journals transcribed by Diane Finch.
