The Exalt
"What are forces of nature but uncaring gods? They fulfill their purposes despite human wants, bringing creation and destruction both. In their wake, we mean nothing. We are at the mercy of whatever natural disaster is brought into being through nature's shifting design."The universe is vast and strange. The scope of existence is beyond what any mortal can comprehend or conceptualize, though they try so hard to. The apparent known universe alone is still so full of mysteries beyond the ken of mortal men (as of now), and that doesn't even scratch what may be beyond our sight and technology. Vast realms unknown, realities that resonate with ours, beings that flit between the layers of existence... Such things may exist, but are only spoken of in stories or hypotheticals. But there is always a grain of something true in every speculation. In the vast scope of Everything, there are being beyond anything that can be explained. Beings the size of the universe, beings smaller than atoms. A twisting, non-euclidean ecosystem of things that eat and are eaten in turn. An ouroborous consuming itself, endlessly and without question. Fractals upon fractals upon fractals until the end becomes the beginning again. A hierarchy in which only consumption and pleasure are the measure of what sits where. And upon the top of this maddening hierarchy sits the Exalt.- A Glimpse through the Glass
