History of The Known World

Historians far and wide often ponder that which cannot truly be ascertained. We explore everything that can be deduced with findings of fossils and archeology, guided with the help of divination magic that ever boosts that which the eye itself could never reveal. That said, the beginning of the world is such an interesting facet that must be explored.

Pre-History

Before Year 1

The point before man was even around, no-one knows how long ago these events happened before the gods made us but they must've happen according to our myths.

  • Pre-history
    Primordial History

Long ago, the forces of the world itself were alive. They thrived as the essence of the fiery lava that bubbles under the ground would shatter its core and mix into the ocean’s water that is carried by the mighty winds.   Fire, Earth, Water, Air these four elementals mixed and churned through the world. Forming the land it shaped and reformed itself for millennia. Time and time again, ever reforming itself to suit its needs and wants.

  • Before the Founding
    Fall of Asmodeus

Long before the gods had discovered their realm they had another amongst them - the fiendish Asmodeus. For unknown reason, the other five gods tricked Asmodeus into trapping himself into the plane of the Nine Hells. Bitter towards his kin who trapped him, he thought best to spite them by waging calamity upon their realm.

  • Year 0
    The Founding
    Celestial / Cosmic

Five young gods noticed the land, ripe with potential ready to be moulded with the life they could imbue with their powers. When they entered the world, the primordials warned the gods that they claimed this land.   For ages the Gods and Primordials bickered over every little detail before agreeing that so long as the natural world still remain and be well looked after by the life that these gods would form, the Primordials would not interfere and return to their original Elemental Planes to allow the new life to begin.   The three male Gods Ozymandias, Nero, and Atticus all wished to rule over their new domain. Siren had found comfort in the sounds of the waves that the water elementals had once imbued while Livia dedicated herself to ensure the Primordials pact shall be respected and nature would be upheld.

Civilisation Dawn

Year 1 to Year 312

The first period of recorded history, when man was created and lived in tandem with the Gods.

  • Year 1
    Birth of Man
    Life, Birth

Spawned from a rose came the Elves; from a chunk of ore came the Dwarves; and finally from clay came to the Humans. Soon after, the gods began forming so many different races to occupy their realm.

  • Year 31
    Divine Magic
    Religious event

To help their children live in the untamed lands, they granted them a gift of power. Divine magic would bestow upon the fateful and devoted children that would guide the others to better promised lands. They also brought life to the Dragons, powerful winged creatures that would help protect the mortal kind with their might.   As mortals began to form their cultures, the virtues and ideologies began to be born from the Gods. Wisdom, Craft, Beauty, War, Feasts, others born of the natural world came to like the very process of Fertility, and the Natural Seasons of the realm were given forms and idols similar to the Gods that ruled the realm.

  • Year 89 - Year 105
    Draconic Seclusion
    Disbandment

As the dragon's began to grow larger and larger, they became an issue for keeping the small hunter-gatherer societies they lived in. More and more dragons began to isolate themselves from the small pockets of civilisations.   Most dragons went high into the mountains, while others burrowed into the forests or the hot desert sands. Eventually, dragons became a rare sight through the realm and the great myth of dragonkind was built: about their power; their wisdom; and their strength. Dragons became the hidden protectors, when trouble struck a might dragon would keep the peace.

  • Year 196 - Year 200
    The First Heroes
    Gathering / Conference

Four champions from different corners of the world: Anders, a humble farmboy who claimed the Coward's Blade by pulling it from a stone in the hill near his village; Corellon, an elf with a gift from beyond the Material Plane from a realm called the 'Fey'; Moradin, a master blacksmith who could craft anything; Yondalla, a halfling girl and skilled survivalist especially with stealth and sleight of hand.   After a fearsome beast of five heads began to cause terror causing terror as it stomped through villages, these four heroes assembled and travelled far and wide to defeat this fearsome creatures: the Hydra. Unfortunately, Anders sacrificed himself to protect Corellon and his soul fused with the Coward's Sword.   It would be a long time before the legend of how the first hydra came to be, but the legend of the First Heroes of the Realm was etched into history forever.

  • Year 208 - Year 312
    The Great Calamity
    Disaster / Destruction

Asmodeus waited, biding his time until he could contact the Primordial forces that once ruled over the land he could’ve ruled over. He tricked them into thinking that the realm was being abused and that they must kill the mortals before the home they forged together was reduced to nothing.   So the Primordials returned, blindly seeking havoc upon their realm. Chaos consumed the world once more and sought the destruction of mankind. A war between the mortals and the elementals, and the sheer force and might of the primordials was too much for the people to hand.

  • Year 312
    Exodus of the Primordials
    Era beginning/end

For more than a century, the primordials were destroying the mortals. To help prevent the Primordials from destroying their realm, the Gods took action to teach their children to fight against the forces that would destroy them. Unfortunately, the power of the few devoted to the Gods wasn't enough to stop the Primordials. So they granted the mortals Arcanum, magic that could be achieved through themselves - via study and some lucky few born or otherwise infused with it.   With their new boon, the forces of the Primordials slowly dwindled. And the mortals drove the Primordials back to the Elemental Planes, trapping their essence into the very plane itself preventing them from ever returning.
