Session Eleven of "The Horrors Beyond the Crypt!"

General Summary

Our session begins at around 6PM on the 29th of May, 3168 Era of Blood, immediately after the explosion that destroyed the Duskburrow Railway, the train our party was on. They find themselves teleported by a mysterious source, presumably the Dapper Dabber. Swug notices this and immediately wants to leave the party, as he knows that DD is watching them and he wants nothing to do with him. After he takes his leave, portals open up in front of our party, similar to the ones they saw at the Scrag Caverns. They reach their hands into the swirling portal of blue and white and pull out various weapons and useful trinkets that they can use in the future. Aether received a Wand of Detect Magic, while Bianca received a treasured item, the Canvas of Charova. A piece of parchment that allows the user to write on it, and the parchment will respond. It's said to hold the knowledge of the Gods in it. Specifically the God of Knowledge, Iblis. Charova was said to be an underling to the God, and, after making a wish to Yharm to become as powerful and knowledgable as Iblis, was turned into a scroll of sorts, being cursed by the Goddess of the Damned for his hubris. Bianca uses this parchment to write questions on it and obtain answers, sometimes straightforward, sometimes a little obtuse. Sometimes, it has no answer, as it is knowledge that even Charova cannot share or fathom. Kimball, who also had a portal in front of him, found a endless smoke bomb, and William just received potions of healing. Neferith, who was spared of the travesity of the train explosion by Swug also, questions the party as to what the portals were, and they kind of give him a "don't worry about it" answer. He informs the party that they need to get to Daggerveil immediately, but not before informing the West Coast Tracks staff of the incident that occurred. They freak out a little, but are ultimately trusting of our party to inform the Chancellor of Daggerveil themselves. As of this moment, the train tracks are closed and sectioned off. While the patrons are upset, and kept in the dark, the West Coast Tracks staff reaches out to other stations along the track to inform them of the incident.   Our party manages to walk through the rain to the gates of Daggerveil, the massive tiered city built into the side of Daggerveil Mountain, but are stopped by guards. The party notices that nobody is allowed to go in or out of the town, and they are confirmed by the guards that this is the case. They arrive there at around 7:30PM and they are told that the Daggerveil Curfew is 6PM. After then, nobody is allowed to enter or leave. The reason for this is because of Chancellor Chumror, he wants to keep the city, and its people, safe, so he, at the behest of many, enacted a curfew. There have been several Goblin attacks at Daggerveil, and this is why they are taking the precautions. Neferith informs the guards that they need to let the party in, but under no circumstances, is anyone allowed to pass through the gates until the curfew is lifted at 6AM, even a Train Marshall like Neferith. They take this moment to regroup and determine their options. The party finds that a lot of the people trying to get into the city are taking refuge in an old hut just outside of the gates. There, they have a campfire going and are passing the time until the morning. Some people are sleeping, but others are telling stories around the fire. Our party manages to get involved with these stories, even though some of them are wild. The party is informed that the Daggerveilian Sewers have been closed off for many years, but there are sounds that come from there. In the sewer grates in town, you can actual hear what sounds to be screaming coming from them. The cause of this is speculated, but some in the group believe it to be bodies of people being dumped in the sewers, and not all of them are dead... Others believe it could be something like Bio-Mutants, created from the corpses of those in the sewer. Others believe it's just natural gasses being released from all the waste. Many of the stories are believed to have some truth to them, though, like that the Daggerveil Jail is dumping bodies in the sewers from those they execute. But it's unknown if this is actually true or not, as it's just speculation by the members of the city.   After getting some sleep after the storytelling, our party manages to wake up at 6AM to enter the city. Guards let them in, with no issue now. Neferith askes Aether for the canister of Wraith Fire, and is given it. Neferith informs them that he'll be waiting at the Castle for them, but if they want to look around the city first, they absolutely can, just not to take too long. Our party immediately wanders around to do stuff. Aether obtains some information from the rats in the sewers, and even makes one his pet! Bianca goes to a tattoo parlor, named "Bound by Ink" and manages to get some tattoos. With more stuff to do, our party looks around and wonders what to do next. Being a Daggerveil Native, Bianca (and William, who was born in Daggerveil and has visited many times in his merchanting days, but has since recinded his birthplace and chose Oceania instead) they knew of the various popular businesses and such. They make their way up to the second tier of the city via the elevators and continue to look around. They manage to notice a Dwarf unconscious outside of the Daggerveil Physician's office. They carry the man inside and he is seen by Pickles, the Plague Doctor. Unknown of who or what Pickles is, the party trusts them, as they are a world reknowned physician. The Dwarf wakes up after being injected with this world's equivalent of Narcan, and he informs them that he took a drug known as Nova. We learn that Nova as been making its rounds in Daggerveil, especially in the Slums. We also learn that he got it from the Bards and the Bees, a local brothel. After taking care of the man, William and Kimball leave and wait for the other two. Bianca and Aether, however, decide to check out the morgue, as they hear noises coming from it. There, they meet a man by the name of Dr. Herbert West. He's very peculiar, and kind of rude. But is supposedly working on a revival serum that can reanimate the dead. Not similar to the way that Necromancers can (as that's illegal in this world), but more in a way where the person comes back as themselves, not as a vessel for a soul. Bianca and Aether kind of get on his bad side, especially when he tests his serum on a corpse, and it doesn't work to his liking. They kind of freak out and call him names, but once they leave, they figure they probably shouldn't make him mad, as he could be helpful in the future... Especially since the Dapper Dabber said he needed something the Doctor had. We ended the session here, before the party head to any other place in town, at around 9:30AM in game, on the 30th of May, 3168 Era of Blood.
