Arcane Collective

Of the eight great guilds, none hold more power and authority in regards to the arcane practices and development. They live and operate from the Tower of intertwining weave that lie on a small island in the The Confluence Sea. It is a place to safely practice the manipulation of the weave, often referred to as magic, and has dedicated spaces for everything from destruction to creation and manipulation. Although most members would be considered Wizards, there are also Sorcerer and other individuals who manipulate the weave in their own way.

Structure

The Arcane Collective is divided into two main sections, students and members. Due to their great knowledge and expertise in most matters concerning the Weave, many seek to learn from them both as beginners and experienced practitioners. These individuals are allowed to apply to schooling held by the Arcane Collective which is done either through shorter courses outside or multi-year programs held at theTower of intertwining weave. These are considered students of the Arcane Collective and are still subject to many of their rules although they are released upon the completion of their education.

The Arcane Collective's members are those that make up the bulk and remain in the guild (usually their entire lives). Once you have decided to be a member of the arcane collective you are assigned a rank which decides many of the benefits and responsibilities you are given. Those that join in the beginning of their journey are called novices and hold no additional title. This last usually for a few months while they are forced around the many schools of magic to see what they excel at. Once they have chosen their area of study they are given a two part title, first comes the school of magic they study and that is followed by their expertise.

Examples

A completely new member of the Arcane Collective would be a novice if they have no experience but some might come with some experience in creation magic and be given the title of Conjuration Initiate. A more experienced member that have studied for a long time could hold the title of Expert Illusionist but regardless of if you focus on only one school of magic or multiple, you would only be known by the one you have the most experience in. Due to this some would be known as an Apprentice Necromancer while they are as skilled in evocation and enchantment.

The school of artificing is a bit of an outlier as rather than being a strict school of magic, it is the study of magical items and the creation of them. An exception to the naming convention is the highest position within each school of magic who are called by their expertise first, such as Master of Enchantment. In some cases (most often with the school of artificing) the highest member have only been an Apprentice but even then they are called the Apprentice of artificing. For each of the ranks up to master, they can be given by any member who holds the same rank or higher - although it is required to follow certain rules and expectations - while the rank of grand-master can only be given by the arch-mage. The arch-mage title is reserved only for the highest member of the Arcane Collective who effectively rules over the rest alongside those who are grand-masters.
