Accord of the Great Guilds
After The War for Midranor, chaos still reigned over Midranor and an entire continent was still lost to the invaders. Even during the war there had not been many unified fronts between nations or organisations working together in good will. The end of the war simply signalled the start of the internal wars of Midranor to resume. Now more than before, every group did what they could to carve out a piece of the world that they could control. Among the many groups & organisations that existed, outside of nations, eight stood above the rest. The discussion of the accord had begun long before the war ended, but at that point it had been between a few members who would become the founders of the Crimson Lions and Arcane Collective. The goal of the accord was to prevent all out war between the worlds superpowers and stand united against future invasions of the gods. Out of hundreds of provisions contained in the accord, only the first agreement is public.
1. In the event of a divine invasion, such, all signatory parties hereby agree to immediate and unconditional cease all hostilities against one another. During such time, all parties shall unite their forces, resources, and strategic efforts in good faith to repel or eliminate the invader.
Contained in clarifying provisions exist hundreds of definitions of divine intervention and what resources and efforts are to be expended. Each of the great guilds have their own obligations based on their current capabilities.
There are only a handful of individuals allowed to read the accord with all provisions, specified in several of the provisions, but primarily only includes the rulers of the eight great guilds. Countless versions of the accord written from those who have seen parts of it and information brokers who have attempted to gain access to the original document in its entirety. It is protected by the Arcane Collective and has since the signing been kept safe.
Document Structure
Clauses
The accord starts out with the agreement on which the entire accord stands. Following it are provisions made for each of the eight great guilds in their responsibilities and under which circumstances they would be affected. The main provisions that are not public are secret provisions.
that those who can freely control the weave within their soul must sacrifice themselves to kill the invading gods
In the centuries following the signing of the accord, multiple addenda have been made regarding guild conflict while there is no invasion. Almost all of these addenda are public with only a few concerning primarily the Silent Hand and Arktalith Family kept private. Among the many addenda are the rules regarding warfare in which the guilds cannot contribute more than 8% of the total war funds between nations and 31% between lesser guilds and organisations. Direct conflicts that continue for an extended period of time or exceed certain monetary thresholds must be overseen by one of the great guild outside of the conflict.
Caveats
With exception to the main concern of the main clause, the guilds working together during a divine invasion is highly unlikely due to the countless caveats that where written into the accord. The Crimson Lions have several provisions concerning their oaths that cannot be broken and as such they can not be compelled to take actions away from their own sacred mission. As for the Spirit Clans, they are not truly unified but guides many smaller tribes that share their way of life and beliefs and as such, only a few could ever be considered to be forced to aid others but they are all in such high positions within the Spirit Clans that they are crucial members to remain within the Clans during war.
Main concern/ Main clauseIn the war against the gods, only the strongest will be able to impact the war in a way that actually mattes. The small group of individuals permitted to the entire accord are those that have full control over the weave in their soul, allowing them to momentarily at the cost of their own life rival the power of the gods. It is also only these individuals that hold any vote in any amendments of addenda to the accord.
Historical Details
History
The accord was initially brought up by the group who would become the godslayers to the members of the 101st who where the first oath of the Crimson Lions. At that time they where trying to gather those who where strong enough to make a real change in the war and had the ability to cause a systematic change in how Midranor would respond to this kind of an event. It was only after the war that Alistar, founder of the Arcane Collective and one of the members responsible for The day gods died, started to pull together the most powerful guilds aggressively in order to create something that would outlast him as he already had one foot in the grave. It was finally signed the 12th of Sul 3134 after years of negotiations filled with conflict between the guilds.
