Rootbound
The far more severe counterpart to becoming Gloamtouched, the Rootbound are feral vessels of the 'Wood, seemingly hellbent on the destruction of any civilised force they encounter. Moss and bark have completely overtaken their bodies, crystals pierce their overgrown skins and they scream with a rage that echoes through the trees for miles.
Causes
It's believed that being Rootbound stems from the Gloamtouched condition affecting one's mind to the point of madness, however there are no confirmed cases of a Gloamtouched progressing to a feral Rootbound.
Affected Groups
The same people who are subject to being Gloamtouched are also at risk of becoming Rootbound, with the exception of dragons who appear to be immune to this affliction.
Cultural Reception
Almost all Peaks have a kill on sight order for any Rootbound who may venture too close to the edge of the Wood.
'however there are no confirmed cases of a Gloamtouched progressing to a feral Rootbound.' Ahh, so probably the stigma is completely unfounded.
