Space lifts

The space lift is the backbone of any and all transport from planet to space on any meaningfully large scale, and is one of the most expensive single items that humanity possesses. The technology was only made available to humans after the 2130s as long carbon nanowire began to be more easily produced and weaving became more advanced allowing for near atom perfect arrangement into the strongest material in the universe up to that point. The idea of the space lift was thought of almost 200 years before of attaching a cable to a large heavy object in geostationary orbit and using the wire to crawl up into space rather than use inefficient and expensive rockets, but now the material to build it was there thoughts immediately turned to a race as to which of the power blocks could build one first and give themselves a major advantage in the ongoing scramble to colonize the solar system.
  The only problem was that the wire was only able to be manufactured on Earth and due to its length being able to wrap round the planet multiple times was both extremely heavy and impossible to fit onto any rocket no matter how large. The solution would come over 20 years later by the USR who would begin construction of Project Zvezdnyy Privyaz' which would place the first space lift mid way between China and the USSR in Mongolia allowing both peoples to access space with ease and completely changing the game. This massive advantage obtained by the USR was however short lived as within 20 years the other two powers would gain access to their own space lifts after the CoN demanded on of their own in exchange for giving the USR access to the newly developed Lower Space key. The USR would negotiate the Cooperative Colony Pact and would also allow PASO to have their first space lift in exchange for an end to support for South Africa.
