Project Zvezdnyy Privyaz'

Project Zvezdnyy Privyaz' or Star Tether in English was a USR solution to the Space lifts problem of the mid 2100's which involved building a massive mag lev railway in a circle across the western Siberian plain which would allow the cable to be manufactured in Tobol'sk and pulled along the track lying on near frictionless runners so as to be slowly wound into a coil ready to be pulled up by a fleet of rockets which were being amassed in the north Kazakh plains using the momentum of the rest of the wire travelling at such speeds to push it along into low Earth orbit and then on into position above the base being constructed just outside of Ulaanbaatar. After the Projects success in 2177 it would go down in history as the single greatest engineering achievement in human history until the completion of Venuses terraforming centuries later.
