Sogno di Lombardi

Establishment

Setting out on January 1st 2200, three colony ships from the CoN, USR and PASO set out from earth orbit to the new colony planet Sogni di Lombardi prepared to settled the long observed earth like world jammed full with life of an unknown kind. Due to lower space jump inaccuracies of the other two vessels arrived later than the CoN ship making Laurens Dekkers the first person to step foot on a planet outside of our solar system.

Faction	District
Commonwealth of Nations	New Mombassa The district is situated on the southern sea around Dekkers bay and stretching up to the Tsavo nature reserve. The district contains the capital city of the CoN on the planet and at a staggering population of 216 million people, the largest none earth city across human space.   Tayari Penisula Stretching east from the Henry river estuary and including the island chains off the coast, the district is mostly knwon for being the main suplier of 'king of kings prawns' or 'kk prawns' as they are often refered though this only makes up a relatively small part the districts industry. Large scale Earth agroculture is anned in the district and only native species are cultivated in the area largely begun as a tourist gimmick but which now keeps the agricultural sector in the district from facing ruin from the far more efficient agro-giants around New Mombassa and Kizingo. Tsavo Nature Reserve This district has by far the least population due to its protected status and strict migration controls to protect the remaining wildlife from before human arrival on the planet. Covering an area from the Western sea to Lake Henry and north to the central mountain belt the district is by far the largest on the planet. The conservation status has led to the district holding the record for the longest wall in human history, preventing any Earth based insects, plants or other animals getting in and endangering the local ecosystem.   Kizingo Plains Kizingo lies to the west of New Mombassa with the river Tana marking the border between the two districts, as with Mombassa the northern border is against the Tsavo nature reserve. Cameron island falls under the districts ownership also. The district is largely flat land with plenty of rainfall, making it ideal for growing crops which has lead to it being known as the colonies bread basket which is a fine example of branding at work as the monoculture plantations of everything from pineapples to rice (though almost all of it is giant wheat fields). The owners of almost all the agricultural land is the Entreprise Agroalimentaire Ivoirienne (EAI) which runs the district in all but name much to the hatred of the local population which has led to the first and second 'neo-peasant revolts'.     Kikowani Frontier Being almost entirely desert except from the far south on the northern shores of lake Henry and the melt water flood plains which is home to over 90% of the population. Being a near unihabitable desert for the most part and having large mountains along the USR frontier which prevents international accidents and or contamination from potentially toxic materials used in experiments, made it the perfect area for a weapons testing ground. Everything from artillery to orbital bombardment is tested over the desert with minimal effect on the populations of the planet, save for the occational booms that can be heard in towns along Henry's coastline and the Belerafon incident which would see an orbital bombardment test malfunction and lead to the battlecruiser CNS Belerafon misfiring causing the ship to lose power and fall from orbit luckily slamming into the northern mountains creating a 10km hole in the mountainside and an earthquake that measured 7 on the richter scale. The damage was mainly doen to USR farming equipment and almost completely levelled the town of Ikoko-Ipenge which was the otherside of the mountain range from the impact. Since then miltary operations ahve been much reduced, but the scar of the accident is still seen from orbit today.
Union of Socialist Republics	Tereshkova oblast Boasting the largest population and the largest individual city from which, as all the oblasts do on Lombardi, Tereshkova acts as the effective administative capital for interplanetary logistics and the hub for planning on the planet. The oblast wraps around the Moreton sea up to the beginnings of the desert and south of the sea to the border with Tukachevsky.   Tukhachevsky oblast Tukachevsky is a mostly agricultural oblast which due to being on the right side of the rain shadow effect of the mountains allows it to grow all kinds of tropical crops which is almost all shipped off world via the Tukachevsky central export rail junction. The oblast is found between Tereshkova to its north and the CoN mountin border to the south.   Jinian chenduxiu de chengshi oblast Being the main battleground for the Mare de Mezzo scramble, the oblast was hard won by the USR and it has paid off, the water from the lake and its tributaries makes for rich agricultural land which would otherwise be a desert devoid of life. Most of the produce grown here is consumed by the planets population with a small amount shipped back to Earth via the central export rail junction. The district borders PASO and so also requires a military presence at all times incase of military flare ups which do on occation happen. The district covers the area under the desert to the west of Tereshkova and Tukhachevsky with its southern border sitting at the most northern point of the mountain range.   Jin-ho oblast Boasting the tallest mountain on the planet along with being surrounded on three sides by massive mountains Jin-ho is the largest tourist desination on the planet with pictureque farming villages and many many opertunities for skiing and hiking. The oblast is found south of the Mare de Mezzo and is bordered on three sides by the CoN sharing only two crossing points at the Isonso checkpoint to the west and the Soča checkpoint to the east which is also the most used inter-empire border crossing outside of Earth largely for CoN residents travelling to visit for short stays, at least that was the case until the recent closure for unknown reasons.   Kun oblast The Kun oblast is almost devoid of any perminant population being nothing but harsh desert only broken by massive mining operations and along the border with PASO military outposts. The oblast is where almost all raw minerals used on the planet are collected with the few that are not found in the expanses of the desert simply being imported rather than be placed anywhere near population centres. The oblast covers the desert all the way to the northern coast but stops at the Aidit native wildlife protective boundary near the northern east coast.   Aidit oblast While populated quite heavily travelling to Aidit is difficult due to its protected ecological status and requires full searches and sterilisation of all property if moving or visiting. Due to these restrictions imports are also made more difficult so outside of raw minerals Aidit produces for its population in house. It also trades with the rest of the USR through its own dedicated space lift which is specially designed to be operated and maintained completely autonomously so as to allow for gamma ray steralisation before anything is brought in. Aidit also supports Hogbe Nlend which also has similar restrictions and togetehr they maintain a steady flux of migrants who prefer the more 'rustic' lifestyle. The oblast is comprised of most of the north east coastal region.   Hogbe Nlend oblast The archipelago oblast is very similar to Aidit only being yet another step removed from the rest of society only trading with Aidit because of its lack of space lift. This has intrestingly lead to the local inhabitants of each island devoloping strong regional accents to the point where the dialect of indonesian and Russian are now considered their own seperate languages.
Pan American Security Organisation	Thurmond The oldest and smallest of the states in the PASO controlled section of the planet, Thurmond sits south of the Antonio Mountains along the Hameed estuary and makes up the majority of the population of the sector largely within the three great cities of Thurmond city, Cobalt and Áth Cliath. Thurmond city is the largest and also where the state gets its name after president Strom Thurmond and is the official capital of the territory with 57 million people.

 

Climate

17 degrees Celsius average planetary temperature making the planet very similar to earth with only marginally smaller ice caps and more jungle coverage. Atmospheric pressure sits at only 84% earth pressure however with an higher oxygen concentration of 28% and with similar CO2 levels of 0.038% the atmosphere is breathable comfortably with only minor long term health issues. Gravity on the planet sits at 0.94 earth gravity making for a fairly comfortable life with minimal health complications resulting from non earth like gravity. 25 hour days while annoying to a human body are by no means difficult to adjust to and contribute to the planets overall high habitability when compared with other systems.

Solar system

A G type star lies at the centre of the system much like out own sun with 2 rocky worlds and 3 gas giants. The two moons on the planet (1.1% and 0.3% planetary mass) create stable but variable tides which contribute to wide planetary stability.
