Gregory Jackfield

Educated in New Auckland University on Sogno di Lombardi, attaining his first doctorate in USR linguistics and his second doctorate in USR studies all together fluently speaking English, French, Bamar, Welsh, Russian, Uzbek, Kazakh, Ukrainian and Polish.

Soon after finishing his second doctorate at 29 he got a job for a short time in the navy aboard the convoy escort command CNS Mombasa Kenyan Class Heavy Cruiser where his language skills made him exremely useful in negotiations and identification of hostile from friendly on lesser boundried inner colony worlds where inter-empire trade was possible and often the USR ships would apply to join convoys in exchange for a percentage of cargo. In this role Gregory who would pick up the nickname Babel from the crew who compared his command of so many languages to the Babel fish in Stowaways Guide to the Universe by Christopher Adams.   In 2535 his job would come to an end after only two years when he was approached by a representative of the Commonwealth Eastern Observation Ministry(CEOM) with a job offer he had only ever dreamed of. Within a month he began being trained for diplomatic work in the USR needing to learn yet more languages for this role he would add North Chinese, Bahasa, Spanish and Lingala and peform a whistle stop tour of differing politcial capitals inside the USR on Earth before his work on trade agreements and border dispute resolutions could begin right out on the outer edges of the two empires where new colonies were beginning to be set up by CoN nations that conflicted with USR claims. In this role he would acsell quickly granting him an extensive network of friends throughout the USR he could use and keeping his employer happy, feeding them all the information he gained on USR long term strategic goals of which he picked up from occational over zealous conversation in conjoining rooms or left on signal lines.   He would be in his third year in the outer colonies when a rumour began to circulate about a planet disapearing without a trace on the further reaches of USR space. The rumour was dismissed by most on Pulau Itu Tiada Lagi since the chances of an entire colony just disapearing were near impossible outside of a local super nova scrambling electric equipment but that would have been noticed and talked about in the news. Gregory was not at first alarmed by the rumours since he had learned that the USR news was pretty reliable on the whole and if a planet had gone missing the government was likely to say soemthing once contact had been reestablished. 5 months later and the rumours in the USR had gotten stranger still, another planet had seemingly disapeared and this time it wasn't a small planet no one could varify it was a large Ukrainian settlement and two weeks later the network was paused for a state wide address by Zumi Kisimba 2539 current Premier of the USR. Shortly afterward it would be annouced that all cross border trade, migration and information would be stopped until the situation was resolved as to not give the enemies of Human socialism any chance to exploit the situation.   Quickly promoted to head of evacuation command on the CoN areas of Pulau Itu Tiada Lagi the swift evactuations began of all those who did not want to be stuck under USR duristiction when the 3 month grace period had elaplsed. The majority opted to stay and be given Soviet citizenship rather than make a new home again but Gregory was requested by the minister of Eastern affairs directly to head up an investigation into what exactly was going on inside the USR and what it meant going forward. This would tie up the next decade of his life as he was to work within the CEOM and CCDDD to find any scrap of eveidence as to what was happening.   In 2553 evidence was starting to make it clear that the USR had discovered something or rather something had discovered them and a war was being waged against it but what this entity was was anyones guess.
