The War between Stone and Wave
The Conflict
Prelude
Clan Master Celvin Stoneborn was hosting a dinner and as the guests were sat he instructed the Ambassador from Clan Waverider to be sat at the lowest table. Belda Waverider, the Clan Mistress of her Clan, penned a formal complaint delivered by her Ambassador. Clevin spat on it and threw it in the fire unread.
Upon receiving word of this affront War was declared.
Deployment
Largely posturing forces for the most part. Most of Clan Waverider's communities were on islands and thus largely unreachable by Clan Stoneborn. Likewise most of Clan Stoneborn's communities were located in in the Fogcrest Mountains with limited access for the largely naval forces of Clan Waverider.
Historical Significance
Since the Great Split there have been two Greater Clans of Dwarves. The Patriarchal Clan Stoneborn and the Matriarchal Clan Waverider. After a few centuries of animosity the two Clans largely got along outside a semi frequent bar brawl. This started to change when Celvin Stoneborn became Clan Master in 314 GR. He was young, barely 120, when he took up The Mountain's Master . However he seemed to bear a particular malice towards all members of Clan Waverider especially their leadership. Relations between the two Clans would continue to deteriorate for decades until the slight that caused the two Clans to declare war upon each other.
Legacy
It was over a hundred years after the formal end of the War before the two Clans would be civil with each other. However when they finally exchanged Ambassadors again a new tradition was formed. A Clan Ambassador was required to be sat at the High Table. Both Clans formally wrote that into their Laws.
