Signaler
"The ability to converse across great distances has changed Therador in ways that are still being discovered."
Utility
Used to communicate with ships at sea and stations on shore.
Manufacturing
Signalers are all manufactured at Insenria. It is one of the few exports from the Gnomes that are readily bought up when they hit the market. The Gnomes will readily explain how the devices are crafted and operate. Most don't dare listen to closely, afraid of being Gnomestruck .
This largely means the method on how they are made is a gnomish mystery. Since signalers are reliable most are content with not knowing.
The Signaler is somewhat complex and the materials are very rare. This means they are not cheap. The gnomes make all of their inventions available for the right price. The Signaler is one the few that is highly sought out.
Very complex. The mounted crystal is connected to smaller crystals that cause the beads on the display to move. The movement of the beads can than be translated into Tradespeak
Gilgamel Shnaggsnear was researching how crystals responded to specific forms of light when he discovered the strange purple crystal found in the deepest of their mines would mimic light if the light was passed through another such crystal. Further experimentation revealed that this mimicry light would continue even if the light was not a consistent beam.
It took five more years of experiments and prototypes before the first pair of operational Signalers were built.
