Mechanics & Inner Workings
The fermentation process makes mead an alcoholic beverage.
Manufacturing process
The brew is left to ferment for a period, followed by a longer period of aging, but there are many methods to this nowadays.
History
Mead is perhaps the oldest alcoholic beverage in history. To many mead is considered a viking beverage, but the history goes further back by many millennia, and many countries have their own traditional honey-based alcohol under different names.
One tale that is however Norse, is the tale of how two dwarves murdered the Vettir genius, Kvasir, and brewed his blood into a batch of mead, that would give the drinker the ability to recite any information and solve any question. It was known as the Poetic Mead. While the Asir never give a straight answer about many things, they do insist on the verity of the Poetic Mead.
