Above all else, Khan is a businessman. He's always perfectly styled with the latest trends not because he necessarily has to have them- but because it's good for business. If people see him having fun and looking his best, it's better to sell his particular fantasy of what they can be. He's an astute judge of character, and that and his incredible charisma help him in his dealings. By the same token, he's very appreciative of those that work for him, because he knows it's better to maintain loyal help that try to find others. This business with the O'Banions makes him more than a little irritated- they're not reasonable men, so don't see that the strife between them only hurts both of their businesses. There's more than enough business on the station to keep them all wealthy, and the conflict serves nothing other than to bring unwanted attention on them. But if they don't want to share, then whatever falls on their heads is on them. As far as Madi, she's an annoyance that he'd rather not have had. But he sees what brought the powers that be to choose her- which is another reason he's annoyed with the O'Banions. But knowing the decision has been made, he tries to put on a good front with her, though the woman is alarmingly sharp and perceptive. He'd appreciate the challenge of equals in any other situation, but things are a bit too touchy to enjoy such things.
