The Glass Desert

The Glass desert located in the inner deserts of Ramil'ard, where a combination of direct sunlight along with the sheer temperature of the desert, caused the sand of the desert to turn into glass, creating bizzare formations around the desert, 125 degrees on average, with up to 160 degrees being recorded. Because the desert is mostly glass, most living beings cannot even touch the ground of the Glass Desert, as their feet would instantly burn.

Geography

The Glass Desert is surrounded by mount Shasul, trapping the heat within, with the severe heat causing the bowl of sands within to turn to what they are today, most of the desert has actually been completely vitrified, with the only breaks in glass being a river that ones ran through the desert, which remains flowing to this day, though the glass surrounding it has broken off due to the river's flow, and caused the riverbed to sparkle and glisten due to the glass bits within.

Ecosystem

Due to the desert being made almost completely of glass, no plants are able to grow, thus, no non-sapients can thrive there, any plant that attempted to grow there either couldn't grow through the thick glassy ground, or burned the moment the plant grows outside the ground at all. Though, some species of algae and fish to thrive there, fish with strong enough gills to resist the glassy shards and swim through the river just fine, with algea acting as the food source for the fish.

Ecosystem Cycles

the Irongill fish that live within the river are do not live there permanently, as they will migrate to the other side of the river through the caves of Mount Shasul during the summer, where the heat becomes truly unbarrable, even when submerged underwater 24/7, and often return once Winter starts.

Localized Phenomena

Due to the Glass Desert, well, being made of glass, it reflects the intense sunlight, which sends blinding beams of light shining out in all directions, with some beams powerful enough to cause plants to smolder and catch ablaze if hot enough. By day, the desert is impossible to see due to all the reflected light, and can only be truly seen by night. These beams are sometimes called "Heaven Spots" by locals, sense it was hot enough to kill anyone who entered them rather quickly, and from an outside perspective, looked as if the now deceased had simply assended to heaven by touching the light.    The Glass Desert also looks slightly different every day due to the severe heat melting away the glass formations and the occsional sandstorms turning to glass and adding to the formations again.

Climate

The Glass Desert is known for it's immense heat, over 160 degrees triggered due to the light reflected from the glass, even some fire elementals like Volcano Sirens are unable to handle the Glass Desert due to the general dry climate. The glass desert also occsaionally gets sandstorms, which change the shape of the glass formations within the desert.

Fauna & Flora

Due to the severely harsh climate of the Glass Desert, little to no plants and non-sapient animals live in the Glass Desert, with the rare exaeption of an Irongill Trout, which lives in the River cutting through the Glass Desert. It has gills hard enough to resist the glass bits making up the stones within the riverbed, and are also protected from the heat more due to being fish and thus, living in water, said River is also safe enough for some algea to grow within too, with it acting as the main food source for said Irongill Trout.

Natural Resources

The few that dared to go into the Glass Desert have collected some small glass fromations from it, which is often sold for quite a price.

History

The Glass Desert was once a normal desert, millions of years ago, but as Mount Shasul grew, it formed a basin around the Glass Desert, and slowly turned it's sand to glass.

Tourism

Due to the harsh conditions of the Glass Desert, it is flat out impossible to visit by day, though, while still rather dangerous, some do still go to the glass desert by night,  often right at midnight, to ensure they have enough time to explore it, and also enough time to leave before sunrise.
