The Great Calamity

The continent of Yyradayn suffers an extremely disastrous event, rendering much of it uninhabitable wasteland. Despite the initial death toll being extreme, the survivors still do not have enough resources to survive, leading to total societal collapse. Many dark elves flee the continent with the help of the Gnomes, who are horrified by the destruction. This traumatic event is so imprinted on the minds of the world that many dates become referenced as "Before Calamity" or "Since Calamity".
