Ynipshar

The Ynipshar are a minor ethnic group present along the coast of the Alsaaljafu region of Ærellion. Mainly a seafaring group of people, they were rivals to the Ægyian peoples during antiquity but were unable to avoid conquest by others, being taken over first by the Sholi, then the Taltas, and then the Al'salaan. However, during the time of the Empire of Oleandron, the Ynipshar saw a minor revival, with their cities being important trading centers with the Oleandrois, since they were far closer than the Ægyians. The cities would also see large amounts of dwarves emigriting from surrounding lands settling there temporarily while preparing to cross over to Telgren, thus bolstering their economies further. However, when the Empire of Oleandron began suffering economic strife, trade declined, and almost completely ended following the collapse of Oleandron. Unprepared for the sudden loss in incoming wealth, the Ynipshar cities' economies also collapsed and the cities once again came under foreign rule. With the loss of independence and a lack of opportunity in their cities, the Ynipshar largely dispersed to the countryside, with some of their cities reportedly losing 90% of their population from their peaks. Thus, they were easily conquered by the Jafarid Empire of the Holy Successor, and would largely become Al'salaanized over the years.
While there is some Ynipshar identity left on the island of [tbd], which came under Telrai rule in [tbd], by and large their mainland presence has completely disappeared. Their native religion and original system of writing has also been lost, with most switching to the Al'salaani script or the Telrai one. Much of this can be attributed to their weak national identity, which never really coalesced because of inter-city rivalries. Though the Ynipshar seem likely to survive totally fine on [tbd], their original culture is essentially gone and they have no agitation for liberty from their overlords. Those few on the mainland seem destined to be totally subsumed into the Al'salaani identity, with most having little to no idea of their original culture, which last stood independent around a thousand years ago.
