Voivodeship of Thrûdn
The Voivodeship of Thrûdn is an Erleting nation which sits between the Fenmark and the Alcediner city states, straddling a region of rough highlands. Born of a power-sharing agreement between remnants of Dragan Ivar's army and local tribes, it has grown into a powerful force, but cracks have showing in its unity. With divisions between major tribes, Thrûdn's order is increasingly being kept by the Voivode alone, which is uniquely elective, though this is nominal. A young nation, it remains to be seen if Thrûdn can survive or if it will give way to some other organization.
History
The region which Thrûdn now occupies suffered greatly over the centuries, as it was a mixing pool for numerous Erleting refugees for centuries. Indeed, Thrûdn is said to be where the Valienen culture actually developed. Thrûdn was also the northernmost region controlled by , and sent numerous warriors to the front. However, few would return, and those that did were easy targets for various other tribes fleeing north. These tribes and warbands, moving through the passages, would cause serious devastation in the region and take large amounts of the population as slaves, leaving the remaining tribes with few warriors and many children. This migration was of course only a prelude for the Dennonian Wars, and much of Thrûdn was occupied by warlords well into the 1970s and the war's end, with these warlords taking what they wished from the local tribes. Even after the Alcediner succeeded in destroying the most powerful warlords in the region and the tribes overthrew the rest for their crimes, the region remained unstable as warbands continued moving into and around the region, creating further chaos, which lasted for almost a decade. Forces from the Blazennian Empire were also present in force until the mid 1970s, harassing the tribes and preventing them from uniting.
Finally, enough was enough. By 1980, a confederation of tribes would finally form to bring order to the region. Although these tribes had a young population which made an effective fighting force, they lacked veteran presence and needed a strong military leader, so they sought to tap the leader of one of the warbands. After a long search, in 1984, they found the man whose forces had committed the least amount of rape and pillaging, they made a deal with him to raise a powerful army and nominate him for Voivodeship, so long as he protect them from raids themselves. This deal was accepted, and the Voivodeship of Thrûdn was born. Once the Voivodeship's young men were trained into an effective force and the other warbands eliminated, the old veterans were finally allowed to settle down, and the Voivode experienced a minor baby boom as veterans and widows made new families.
