Siriasčulai

The Siriasčulai are a unique culture group living in northern Taytama and coastal Puiškas. Descending from Laiškas migrants integrating with Talvinen-populated regions over thousands of years, they have maintained many of the Laiškas cultural and linguistic practices while largely adopting the Talvinen religion, though some practice Tul Tanzu instead. Their pre-conversion religion is mostly unknown and can only be seen in its cultural impact in holidays and superstitions. There are a number of stone carvings which also could be related to their previous religion littered around their former territories, however due to the Siriasčulai changing their writing system they can no longer be deciphered. Many of these relics have been mistakenly attributed to the Forest People, but they can be distinguished by careful observation.
Culturally, the Siriasčulai can be split into four living subgroups- the Svieškas, Zemeāls, the Mazel, and the Saloji. The Svieškas have about 2 times the population of the Zemeāls, and populate the most of the more sparse woods. In contrast, the Zemeāls live in the much denser woods and in closer contact with Talvinen populations. They make use of a number of loan words, while the Svieškas do not. Dwelling only on islands off the Taytaman coast and as minorities in the south, the Saloji are a distinct group, with far less of a Talvinen influence. The Saloji have much more of a maritime culture than the Svieškas, and have traditionally been the ones to bring innovation to the region, which is a major part of how they have maintained their independence despite being greatly outnumbered by the Svieškas. Essentially the exact opposite, the Mazel are a tribal people located inland, well known for their raiding. Their nation, Reiderstaj, is a union of these tribes and is fairly recent, but the Mazel tribes have been unified before, and were some of the main foes of the Baxstir, who commited genocide against the Siriasčulai. The Mazel are the most mixed of all the groups, and their ancestry counts the original Laiškas inhabitants of Taytama, Talvinen tribes, and Taytaman lines- all blended into a distinct Siriasčulai culture. They are also the only Siriasčulai to be polygamous.
