Rosklet

Rosklet are a goblin ethnic group mostly dwelling around the inland regions of Telgren, centered around the Plaires Centralis and the Orentesh. Unlike the more northern populations of goblins, the Rosklet count more free men than slaves in their ranks. However, this fact masks the dark history of the Rosklet, and their despicable treatment at the hands of all surrounding races. The Rosklet were introduced to Telgren much as other goblins, as slaves brought by the Gnomes from far-off Archelin or Ifyrial. Throughout the years, these goblins would make their way north in small numbers as slaves were sold, but over time a sizable population was built up. During the aftermath of the collapse of the Khanate of Clesentia, these goblins escaped bondage and formed the free city of Fregobba along the banks of the Frountiu River. This state would persist for over a century as there were few who could match their fervor in battle and they were rather poor. That would change when a succession war spiralled into anarchy, the state was destroyed by centaurs. While the goblins would persist as migratory tribes in the area, the city was razed to the ground and there was little to no population in the region anymore. After some time, the goblins came under the control of Kchatéldelest, who ruthlessly exploited them. The goblins would revolt in the spring of 1437, but the rebellion failed. While crushing this rebellion, the infamous Black Decree was issued which allowed all captured goblins (even noncombatants) to be sold into slavery. This decree, moreso than the rebellion itself, led to the complete depopulation of the region as the goblins were all taken away. It is from this that the subgroups of Rosklet have developed. Centaurs would soon sweep into the area, which they hold to this day. Faced with a large population of slave goblins which they could not hold, Kchatéldelest formed the plains manors; a thin stretch of poor lands which goblin slaves toiled on. However, Kchatéldelest eventually fell into civil war and the owners of the Plains manors backed the wrong side; their manors were looted and destroyed and some goblins were taken further east. However, most of the goblins stayed where they were, squatting in the ruins of manors and forming new tribes in their general area. At this point, the more northern manors have long ago been destroyed by centaurs raids, but much of the Orentesh border is still lined with goblin tribes, who the Orentesh leave in peace as they can act as buffers.
There are three different types of Rosklet, the Fregobbans, the Citislatch, and the Argelona. The Fregobba live on or adjacent to the Plaires Centralis, being the goblins which have remained on the plains manors since their formation. In contrast, the Citislatch live throughout the Orentesh region, as the descendent of slaves taken east after the Black Decree or after the fall of the Manors. Their population is spread out over the whole region and forms little to no cohesive community. Lastly, the Argelona are goblins who have escaped slavery and fled north to the great lake. This region, while unpopulated by humans, has become somewhat of a haven for escaped slaves from the south. Cold and dreary, it is much different from the jungles of archelin from whence they came, but goblins are nothing if not adaptable. There they have come into conflict with the northern goblins who fled slavery into the same marshes.
