Pranvar
The Pranvar are an Outland Giant culture present in the Khŭlmozhi region, and at one point dominated the entire region but are now limited to the interior mountains and desert valleys. The Pranvar have long been caught in an unfortunate geopolitical situation that has effectively stunted their development as a society and limited their ability to expand their territory consistently and permanently. Part of this issue comes from the continuous waves of migrations coming off the western steppe, which means that whenever they would expand into unprotected lowlands, these lands would immediately and continually become centers of violence and warfare. Over time, the Pranvar came to give up on direct conquest, merely demanding tribute from whichever civilization had settled close enough that they could threaten reprisals if tribute was not given. The arrival of the Taltas around the time of the Great Calamity would make the region far more stable, as they were the last human group fleeting the steppe. Over the next 1000 years, the Pranvar have continued to demand tribute, usually receiving it, and crushing many human upstarts. Unfortunately for the Pranvar, during this time they would also suffer attrition as the dwarves of the south slowly but surely pushed them out of many of mountains they had long resided in. This resulted in a lessened ability for the Pranvar to actually enfore their tribute, and sources of revenue slowly dried up over time, leaving the remaining tribes destitute and increasing violence once more. The arrival of first the Illahic conquerors and then the Telai traders allowed the Taltas to connect to the wider world and therefore improve their ability to resist, which on top of the Pranvar decline led to tribute sources drying up almost entirely by the 1500s. In the past 500 years, the Pranvar have been relegated to occasional menaces, a far cry from the regional overlords they once were. This contraction of authority also led to the destruction of isolated tribes which had reigned from lonely mountains far within human lands, which is why the Pranvar have such a small amount of territory today. This compression has also led to cultural and ethnic mixing, leading to the Pranvar no longer having any notable differences between the remaining tribes.
(I hate this next part- it's really evil- but I needed to write it since it's both canon and realistic, unfortunately)
The only slight difference between various members of the Pranvar clan is the minor presence of half-giants, or at least those with some human blood. Naturally, with two peoples living so close to one another for so long, there was bound to be some crossover. However, it is critical to note that in this case almost none of these relationships were consentual. Both male and female Pranvar were known to demand individuals they considered "attractive" as personal tribute, and to force them to procreate. Of course, the lifespans here are absolutely not sustainable and such abductees rarely lasted long either way. During the pushback against the Pranvar between 1000 and 1500, there were also a number of incidents where male humans would asault Pranvar as revenge, which would often prompt a Pranvar reprisal. Of these two timeframes of assault, the latter one produced a more lasting impact because of the greater amount of male human-female giant pairings, which is far more safe and somewhat stable. Naturally, being children born of violence, the half-giants remain outcasts; often killed on sight in human lands and forced into slavery in giantish lands. This means that most of the half-giant population can be found in Pranvar lands. Some, however, accuse the nation of [tbd] as having a half-giant upper class which represents the intriguing possibility of a half-giant sanctuary and a place where the two cultures can actually come together and be productive instead of perpetuating violence.
