Mūdûšarru

Mūdûšarru is the ancient script of the Ursumar, and is one of the oldest known human scripts in the world. Like many ancient languages, Mūdûšarru does not write out vowels, which posed a major issue for record keeping in the Ursumar states until linguistic reforms were introduced to modernize to a new script. Nowadays, the old script, known as the Mūdûšarru (essentially meaning wise and/or learned) is known only to scholars. Many words can be figured out via context and thus deciphered, but ancient words known to few can be difficult to trace without knowing them. THis complicates translation efforts for those less familiar with the Ursumar languages in the first place. For example, Mūdûšarru written in Mūdûšarru is Mdšrr, which obfuscates the meaning.
