Kingdom of Ashēry
The Kingdom of Ashēry was formed by the semi-legendary demigod Šarrugameš who was deified after his death. Although the gods of this era are long since lost to time besides Šarrugameš, he and the Kingdom of Ashēry are some of the oldest recorded history known to exist from the region, dating back to around 4300 BC.
Since records mainly relate to the life and times of Šarrugameš himself, rather than the kingdom of Ashēry, little is known about the state itself. However, its is known that the small town of Ashēry, where Šarrugameš was initally brought after his discovery because the center of the new empire. The kingdom was certainly centered in northern Berīt Narūm, but managed to conquer to the lakeshore during the lifetime of Šarrugameš. The Kingdom of Ashēry was dominant and ruled over a confederation of Ursumar city-states under the peaceful guidance of Šarrugameš until the mid 4100s, when Šarrugameš was captured and sealed away by powerful magic. The kingdom was then taken over by his son, Galašes the older ap Šarrugameš, who managed to hold together the confederation and push back the [tbd] invaders. However, Galašes was rather old, and would soon die, leaving his son Galašes the younger on the throne in 4108 BC. Galašes the younger, despite being powerful in the ways of magic, was weak in the ways of women, and was drowned in his baths by an assassin. Galašes' death caused the confederation of city states to fall, and soon after the kingdom would fall in a renewed invasion by the [tbd], and the ap Šarrugameš dynasty was scattered across the lands. Although many heroes and kings would claim the blood of Šarrugameš, little can be proven due to poor records and a lack of proof regarding the other descendents of Šarrugameš, as Galašes the younger left no heirs, and all of Šarrugameš' other offspring had long since died. Thus, the kingdom of Ashēry faded into history, though its name was revived for use in the Duchy of Ashēryku and Divinity of Ashēryku.
