Ifrit
The Ifrit are the most powerful of all genies, but also have a streak of evil and malevolance, a relic from their demonic days. They, like their affinity for fire, rage quickly when fed the right lines, but even when fuel for their anger is sparse they still smolder angrily. Ifrit are very organized into a society that tries as hard as possible to control them without outright binding them except in extreme cases. On the lower levels, this is very much a broken and cruel anarchy, where the strongest Ifrit press the weaker ones into "temporary" servitude to power their schemes. The greatest of Ifrit lords muster armies of Djinn and the lower classes to attempt to eliminate their mortal enemies in the Marids. Ifrits view servitude as natural for lesser beings, and they view imprisonment of an Ifrit by a non-Ifrit as a caridinal sin, and will vent their wrath against any that dares to try, whether or not they succeed. Of course, should one remark that Ifrit society seems to be basically the same thing as permanent servitude where everyone just pretends it isn't, they will rage to almost this same level. Despite their rage and hatred, Ifrits make powerful, if self-centered allies, as long as they don't cut a deal with your enemies and sell you out. Their power is far above all but the most adept mortals, and so they can account for many lesser soldiers if the price is right. After all, treasure is a great lure for them. Ifrits usually live in great caves or above-ground rock formations, since they don't need to worry about light and stone isn't easy to burn during their frequent rages.
