Hurrog Frixficht

Hurrog Frixficht was a rescue-born Chitis who spearheaded the creation of offensive forces to fight against the Chitis. He was originally brought up by a Klal'bauter woman in a tribe which was rather close to the Chitis Overlord's front. Because the tribe was relatively isolated, Hurrog lived with them until adulthood, but afterwards he journeyed to Xichkost and trained in swordsmanship. This was an odd choice for Chitis, who preferred to work with maces due to their exoskeletons being hard to penetrate with swords. Hurrog quickly rose to become an excellent swordsman, and decided to return to the Klal'bauters he had grown up with. He never found them. Whether this was because they migrated elsewhere due to attacks by the Overlords or because they were killed is uncertain, but from that point forward Hurrog endeavored to stop the Overlords. He returned to Xichkost and dedicated himself to the Free Band, which at that point was more of a mercenary group than the state army it would later become. However, a split occurred. Hurrog believed that they should be doing more to fight against the overlords rather than just defending the small regions they were placed in, and began agitating for offensive action. This led to him being ejected from the band, but he was not discouraged. For the next few years, Hurrog travelled the land, and lowly formed a band of like-minded Chitis.
In 1625 SC, the group began setting up a base along the edge of Overlord territory. They would spend the next 15 years in a guerilla war against the forces of the Overlords, striking fast and fading back into the swamps after their attacks. During the times when operations were not under way, Hurrog was a prodigious writer, proposing legal codes, military reforms, tactical reshuffles, and his main focus: the creation of an order of Chitis focused on one thing only- the liberation of their race. Hurrog's writings spread and he began to make a name for himself as a brilliant strategist, drawing even more disciples to him. He slowly began preparing to propose his military order to the general public when he became extremely ill after a particularly difficult raid. It was an illness which he would not recover from, and the last 3 years of his life were spend writing as he grew progressively weaker. In the end, all he could do was make his best an brightest promise to spread the word for him and make his dreams a reality.
One cold winter day in 1643, he called for one man in particular- Tsschik Hissblaxt. He proclaimed Tsschik his successor and head of the order, and then got out of bed. He proclaimed that it was a fine day to die, and called for the entire population of the fortress to gather. In his last speech, he made his plans public for the first time, and expressed sorrow that he would not be around to see them. He once again proclaimed Hissblaxt his successful, this time publicly. Despite his wasted figure, he managed to speak charismatically one last time, leaving the order in a stable place. But the speech took a lot out of him. Hurrog died that afternoon, gazing out his window at the gnarled trees.
In the three and a half centuries since, Hurrog's dream has become a reality. The order has become known as Hurrogxard, in his honor, and represents the finest warriors of the free chitis. Its presence has brought hope to those who once feared an Overlord invasion daily, and is considered in high esteem by the Hobgoblins to the north. Many brave warriors have died to keep the people free, and through the years the Overlords have indeed seemed to grow weaker. While territory under their control has waxed and waned over the years, each time it seems a little more land is recovered, and a little less lost. Indeed, by all accounts, the 86th battle of Kl'chkax Creek destroyed over 70% of Overlord Khirrik-Tcktcktck Lck'lla’s army and hopes are high that his fellow Overlords crush what remains.
Hurrog is a national hero of Frixmakxso and among the (eastern) Klal'bauter, and the day he died is set aside as a memorial to remember those thousands who have fought and died in his name since, always with one goal in mind- freedom for all of their people.
