House of Syr
The House of Syr is a minor house of devils whose main sphere of influence is on the continent of Yyradayn. They are mostly involved in attempting to undermine the control of The Hierarchy on the continent and in the corresponding region of the Shadow Dimension. The main goal of the house is to defeat the reigonal Hierarchy to take control of the main portal between Yyradayn and the Shadow Dimension and therefore dominate the continent and become a major player in devil politics. The House of Syr is loosely associated with The Watchers, and hold some influence over the highest echelons of the organization, though most of its members are unaware.
History
The House of Syr existed long before the Watchers, but was a very non-influential power and had little influence beyond the family manse. They were former members of the Hierarchy but left the faction due to desiring more power, which for many years appeared to be a mistake. However, the house would see the rise of the Watchers as an opportunity to subvert the dominant power of the Hierarchy by forcing them to tie their resources up in the mortal plane, leaving them vulnerable in the Shadow Dimension. This plan proved to be most effective, as it took advantage of the Hierarchy's multi-front conflict with other devil houses in the same area. By the same note, the very subtle nature of the alliance with the Watchers gives that group moral legitimacy the rival Cult of Sanomudra could never claim. This has given the hosue of Syr a reputation as an opportunistic and sneaky house, which many devils admire. In recent years, the house has been a major force in the Wacthers putting aside their differences with other races to fight the Sanomudrites.
