High Philosophy
The gnomish religion of High Philosophy is so named because adherents philosophize on higher beings, namely gods and powerful spirits, alongside the nature of the universe. High Philosophy is a highly active religion, and instead of passive worship, the faithful congregate “meetings” where all are encouraged to participate provided they make a request before the meeting starts. Individual theorizing is highly encouraged and so are small discussion groups, but sharing large theories for the first time in a meeting is highly encouraged. Meetings are managed by a Philosopher, whose job is to keep meetings from getting out of hand and to record any important theories that may come up in meetings. Generally, High Philosophers do not believe in an afterlife, though the religion as a whole is not entirely opposed to the concept.
High Philosphopy is the main religion of the Gnomish people, and the only one which is native to Gnomes, since most Gnomes of other religions converted after reflecting on and finding a specific religion's views to be more reasonable. This isn't common, as thanks to the wide amount of contact with other religions, they usually come to follows parts of many religions. High Philosophy is a highly syncretic religion and in many places where Gnomes rule over non-gnomish subjects their local religion is also patronized by the government.
