Þarai
The Þarai are the most populous group of Telrai in existence (though not outnumbering all other groups together), and are known to be the Telrai who live a mostly-traditional life in or near the Þaru Isles. The Þarai population is almost entriely composed into the Confederation of Numoanu. Numoanu was once a floating island before ramming into Telgren's oceanic shelf, and the confederated government predates contact with Telgren. The confederation, having recently entering a pact with the Frostreach Empire, is beginning to prepare for outside expansion for the first time in many years, which may expand the Telrai population of the Þaru islands significantly in the near future. This is because the Þarai don't make up a majority anywhere outside the confederation in the Þaru Isles.
Despite the closely interconnected and allied confederation of the Þarai, there are still some subgroups of note, the Sisai, Sasai, Totai, and Faiai. The Sisai dwell along the western coasts of Numoanu island, which they have fished and sailed along since the island arrived. Sisai discovered the Maua Lugalaumau Archipelago semi-recently, and have been preparing the settle the lands to expand their reach. It's possible that given time, a new culture may diverge from that region, but as of now it remains unsettled due to cold climates and a lack of strategic purpose. In contrast, the Sasai live along the eastern coast of Numoanu, as well as the lands just across the strait who are also part of the Confederation. They have been the most warlike Telrai for some time, hiring out as mercenaries and fighting against human groups in the Þaru islands for many years. However, they are also the most likely to take action against slavery, which these groups partake in. Besides the preceding two groups, Numoanu is also populated by the Totai, who live in the central plains. As the main farmers and bureacrats of the Confederation, their inland lives mean that they must take special trips to the sea. This usually occurs just after the harvest, in late fall- before the snows fall too thick but late enough the harvest is complete. However, the more wealthy Totai can afford to take such trips in the summer instead, when the weather is warmer. Despite a primarily inland population, the Totai are mixed in among the other two groups and are just as able sailors- though not as able as the Faiai. The Faiai are Telrai who live among the Þaru islands but not within the bounds of the Confederation. Primarily clustered as minorities along the coast or in cities, they have long served as merceneries, merchants, honor guards, and in other trades- though they never deal with slavers. The Faiai are known as an honorable and just people throughout the islands, and are also known to be the best to conduct negotiations for passage to Numoanu, which is usually closed to non-Telrai.
