Syoll's Heart

Syoll's Heart, aptly named not only because it is located in the approximate geographical centre of Syoll but also because it has been deemed heart and soul of the nation, is the capital of Ellion Dula and the de facto capital of Syoll. It is a lively and interconnected city, that sees more people travelling through each year than any other place in Syoll. Some are drawn there by the allure of the city alone, while many others come to the Heart to follow their dreams and join one of the five Colleges of the Arts.  

People and Culture

The people of Syoll's Heart are known to be open and friendly, and some of Syoll's best hosts. Their city being home to the famed Colleges of the Arts, many Atrians are or were artists of some kind, or at least value the arts highly. Music and storytelling are especially important, and being good at either (and especially being good at both) is seen as a virtue of the highest kind. Next to the artists and retired adventurers that live in the Heart there are many that work at the Harpstring or at related political institutions.   The living costs in Syoll's Heart are rather high, so most long-term inhabitants are of a wealthier kind. There are however many students or temporary workers who live in so-called "guest houses" during their time in the city. These are buildings made to be rented out and make up most of the residential buildings in the centre. A vast majority of Atrians live in the outer parts of the city, with many also settled outside its walls in self-built houses.  

Industry and Trade

The primary export of Syoll's Heart is said to be in the form of services rather than materials, with the artists educated there being seen as a great benefit to the people of Syoll. The production of specialty goods such as stationery items, instruments, and glassware is also vital for the Heart's exports, and are equally as important for the city's identity.   Situated on the island of Ellion Dula, Syoll's Heart mainly lacks raw materials such as stone and metal, importing them from other aspects. Trade is very active in the Heart, due mostly to its advantageous situation as well as its status as capital and its large airship dock. This means that there are also many different traders passing through daily, and that the offered wares can change from day to day.
