Durcata
Durcata, goddess of mountains and forts, is quiet and reserved goddess. She is seldom invoked, as the past millennium has been a rather peaceful one and she is usually called on for protection and fortitude. She is one of the few Syolladver to have a wide reach across the independent island nations of Nessur's Eye, mostly due to her protective nature and the commonness of military conflicts there.
Although she is typically understood to be the goddess of literal fortifications, modern interpretations have suggested a connection to a person’s metaphorical strength, especially mental stability, as well. This new interpretation has led to a boom in Durcata’s popularity in Syoll.
Durcata’s holy symbol is a tower over a triangular background. While in smaller symbols the triangle is usually plain and undecorated, larger, official artworks stylise the triangle as a detailed mountain.
Followers of Durcata are seen as very protective and strong figures, with many of them working as guards or travelling the world as a protector of the people. For them, strength and stability are vital, as well as the protection of the weak and innocent. Additionally, while they value an individual’s strength, they also realise that a group can be even more resilient, much like a mountain range. Typically, they have a strong moral compass and use their strength with a great sense of duty and responsibility.
Durcata was one of the deities involved in the incidents that caused the Doomsday Century.
