Bandolim Family

The Bandolim Family is a charity organisation present in most of Syoll’s larger cities that provides a home for giver goblins that have either been kicked out of their tribes or left out of their own will. The organisation takes in these lonely goblins and, next to providing a home and sustenance, make it possible for them to start an apprenticeship in various shops and stores. This way, they make it possible for the goblins to earn money and fend for themselves, while integrating into Syollan living.   When a giver goblin is discovered or brought to the organisation (or, on rare occasion, finds their own way there), they are first taken in and given any care they need. They then get the opportunity to start a scholarship at any of the Family’s partner shops or taverns, where they can learn a different set of skills respectfully. While some goblins have a solid idea of what direction they want to go, others will not. These individuals will get a small introduction into the various lines of work, after which they can choose.   Although there are usually always a few vacancies, it can happen that a certain job or position cannot be found for one or more goblins. If this is the case, they will be allowed to work at the Bandolim Family market stalls, where they learn to collect bits and bobs, fix or improve them, and sell them to collect money for the organisation (with every goblin getting a small cut from the profit to spend as they wish). Sometimes the family even hosts crafting weekends, where the goblins are encouraged to make things and then sell them.

Goal

The promises of the Bandolim family are to see the values of an individual, instead of judging them by what their kin have done. They aim to welcome the outcasts of goblin societies and to help integrate them as well as possible into Syollan society.

History

The Bandolim Family was originally started by Prim Bandolim in 1346, a Solasi halfling. At a very young age, she befriended a giver goblin named Brisket, who had fled onto a trading ship leaving Ira after their tribe had banished them. The daughter of an experienced fish merchant, Prim made it possible for Brisket to get a job at a small shop and, after she saw just how well it went, started a charity organisation with some friends that aimed to take in giver goblins and integrate them, while also filling gaps in the workforce. Prim and her friends spent a lot of time going door-to-door to find sponsors for their work, but the word spread and eventually, within the next few decades, the Bandolim Family had gained a great deal of volunteers as well as partner organisations across the Aspects. The charity was the first to call direct attention to the existence of giver goblins and to cause awareness of their value as members of society. It gained a lot of renown for doing so and has made quite the impact on the acceptance of goblins in the world.
