Empress Sumadera Otsune

Empress Sumadera Otsune is the leader of the Tiashan Empire and leads The Seven Petal Council in governing the empire.   Empress Otsune is an immortal from an unknown lineage. Having never known her true parents, she was raised in an orphanage in the Tianshan region. There she discovered her knack for magic and immortal nature. Soon after reaching adolescence Sumadera traveled the isles learning martial arts, magic, and the art of the sword.   Before she was chosen to reside over the newly forming empire, she was known as the hero Lady Crane. She had spent years fighting in the War of Eight Blades, a ten year conflict between eight clan leaders who fought for power over the region. This conflict culminated in a now historic duel between Lady Crane and the ruler of the Xia Shogunate , the Sky Shogun Jin Wendatto who had an interest in the conflict. While there was no clear winner, Sumadera earned the respect of the Sky Shogun for the time.   After the war, with the backing of the Tiashan people and new clan leaders, Sumadera was chosen to be an empress over the region and to lead the people into unity, security, and prosperity. Over the last several years the empress has done her best to lead, but often finds the empire at risk of collapsing under its own weight. She is often found at the capital, Saragar where she labors in meetings and councils.   Many report that the empress is very empathetic and truly wants best for people. She is also very skilled in protective magic, and sometimes conducts trainings and lectures for the empire's best abjurers. She likes to be involved with as much as she can, which seems to be taking a toll on the woman as the needs of the empire grow and conflict appears around every corner and on each border.
