What is Nutri-MAX Paste?
A popular nutrient paste, advertised as Nutri-MAX Paste, is produced and distributed by FoodCo Interstellar, a subsidiary of AGRO-Technica. Nutri-MAX Paste is produced for and advertised in the same product lineup as Nutri-Salt, and since it has entered the market and it has quickly gained popularity. Though it has not quite caught up to the outrageous success of Nutri-Salt.
Nutri-MAX Paste, in essence, is the collection and blending of all the agricultural waste material from AGRO-Technica’s various crops: corn husks, trampled and unsellable fruits and vegetables, and a variety of byproducts left behind during the crop cycle. All are mixed with a blend of stabilizers and preservatives to make a shelf-stable paste.
It is advertised as healthy and nutrient-rich, though these claims are fairly dubious; they are not fully untrue. The paste is rather rich in nutrients and is calorically dense thanks to the massive amount of plant matter in it. However, the added stabilizers and preservatives likely harm its potential health benefits.
While AGRO-Technica is not, by a long shot, a trustworthy company seeking to do good, not all of their products are expressively dangerous or harmful to the body. And while this particular product is, overall, fairly harmless, no more dangerous than a common protein bar. However, this particular product does have an alternative, unadvertised use that could pose a potential danger. Though AGRO-Technica views it as a potential boon.
Dream Shag, a fungus which grows in the jungles of Krydis
Addition of Dream Shag and Psychedelic Effects
In its most recent batch, an excessive amount of an uncommon fungus called Dreams Shag was added to the batch. Dreams Shag grows extensively on the jungle planet of Krydis in the Federated Territories of Vash. However, it does not grow anywhere else as far as anyone else has discovered.
Krydis is uninhabited with no form of civilization, though it has a wide range of flora and fauna otherwise. It is owned by and operates within AGRO-Technica’s crop farming territory.
The agriculture MegaCorpo grows a variety of exotic fruits on the planet, which they use in a wide range of beverages and dried supplemental powders. Dream Shag grows extensively in large bush-like blooms in between fruit trees, particularly around the base. Both is fruit and its root systems are extremely resistant to pesticides and are quite hardy, resilient to both cold and heat. While using fire to burn away the material may be effective, it is not a common tactic, as it would almost certainly damage the fruit trees as well.
Instead, the Dream Shag is routinely pulled up and disposed of. AGRO-Technica, being the savvy business company they are, has implemented a waste-not, want-not protocol, as is evident in their other popular product, Nutri-Salt. So, the collected waste of Dream Shag has been thrown into the mix that eventually becomes Nutri-MAX Paste.
The effect that this addition has had on the final product of Nutri-MAX Paste has been rather profound.
Strangely, if the paste is smeared on the temples of a consumer, they will experience vibrant and intense hallucinations. It is unknown how this was discovered or why anyone would think to use the product in such a way.
Some users under the effects of Nutri-MAX Paste in this fashion have even stated that its effects verge on the psychokinetic or telepathic, with users swearing that the paste allowed them to read people's minds. It is uncertain whether these claims are true or if they are the ravings of those coming out of intense psychedelic hallucinations.
The paste also becomes very addictive when applied this way. Strangely, ingesting the paste as it's typically intended nullifies any psychedelic and addictive effects.
Of course, AGRO-Technica is looking at ways to monetize this creative use of their product. Internal product testing and research is currently being conducted towards this aim. Including creating a new product line, either under the same line or in a tangentially related line.
This would leave FoodCo Interstellar and AGRO-Technica with two slightly altered products. Splitting the Nutri-MAX Paste product into two: one without the fungus added, continuing on as Nutri-MAX Paste, and the other containing the fungus and being advertised as a safe stimulant. The legality of this is, of course, dubious, but AGRO-Technica will likely find a way to get it to market anyway. The long-term effects of using the paste in this way are unknown, but it is likely not healthy.
