Crystal Cave
Crystal Cave is an icy-but-habitable planet on the Triton Gate Network. It was discovered by Lux and The "Scrud" in 2102 while they were searching for evidence of the Babel virus. A crystalline energy source and a deadly invisible predator are both native to Crystal Cave.
Crystal Cave's Gate sits on a glacier in a low valley. It is theorized that the formation of ice weighs the ground down, and not that mountains rose, because there is no evidence that Crystal Cave is geologically active.
It has an Earthlike atmosphere, although high concentrations of oxygen can cause oxygen toxicity in humans over prolonged exposure, and temperatures are practically Arctic. There is native life here, although it is not very biodiverse and is mostly small, hardy, cold-adapted plants.
Geography
ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS:
Pressure: 0.9a
Composition: 67% nitrogen, 30% oxygen, 3% other
Gravity: 0.75
Temperature: -38 degrees Celcius
This world has low-elevation extinct volcanos that form valleys filled in with deep glaciers. The glaciers are riddled with caves and large chambers melted by the formation of Resonance Crystals.
Fauna & Flora
The mountainous sections of the planet have hardy, cost-resistant leafy photosynthesizing plants. The icy caverns host the occasional cold-adapted fungus or mold.
Crystal Cave is also home to the Hunters, a deadly species of invisible predators.
Natural Resources
Crystal Cave's most important natural resource is the Mother Crystal, a huge Resonance Crystal at the heart of the planet's cave complex. It is suffused with a near-infinite amount of energy. Communing with it is dangerous, but it can infuse a creature who touches it with power.
The planet's caves are also filled with regular Resonance Crystals, smaller versions of the Mother. They grow in patches all throughout the caves, filling them with a soft light and a gentle radiation.
