Muramasa
The Muramasa is one of the 240 basic Arrival Sub-Classes, subordinate to the Class of the Spellblade Combatants. Arrivals started appearing in Teel after 115 aS, when Bo Yang started experimenting with the Sphere technology.
Overview
Muramasa is the term adopted by the young priest Jirōzaemon as his name after his union with the legendary black platinum-forged Muramasa sword. The pitch-black weapon, infamous for consuming the mind and will of its wielder, is one of only a handful of existing Muramasa blades in the known universe. Each of these swords was forged by the mythical and notoriously unstable blacksmith Muramasa, who is said to have embedded fragments of his own violent soul into every blade.
Only a few Muramasa blades still exist, and each bearer inevitably becomes known by the sword’s name. For scholars, the Muramasa is regarded as both a myth and a warning: a reminder of the price paid by those who wield power born from madness.
The Curse of the Muramasa Blades
A Muramasa sword is not considered a weapon in the conventional sense, but a sentient, hunger-driven entity bound in metal. When wielded, the blade overwhelms its bearer with an uncontrollable bloodthirst, driving them into a state of heightened aggression and near-unstoppable combat frenzy. Those who unite with a Muramasa lose themselves gradually, their identity eroded until only the blade’s will remains.
Union and Athem Imprint
When Jirōzaemon claimed the sword to defend his monastery, the Muramasa’s spirit fused with his Athem imprint. This union altered him irreversibly, and fused his right arm with the weapon.
