The Eve

The 'Eve' is a SCARAB (Spelljamming Capable, Astral Reconnaissance And Boarding) class vessel, custom built by Cassius Az'Reald during his time on Toril and 'brought to life' during The Ritual. The ship resembles a gigantic, golden, desert beetle and was a common motif in the city of Athkatla, at location from their homeworld that continues to inspire Cassius and Arcadia on their journey.

The 'Wings' of the ship must be deployed when operating in locations with atmosphere and a gravity plane strong enough to attract the vehicle in order to maintain enough lift to remain airborne. This is most common when attempting to land or take off from planets, moons, and asteroids. Once safely landed or while traveling through Wildspace and the Astral Sea there is no need to keep the Wings deployed.

The Lower Deck

(1) Captains Quarters

At the bow of the lowest deck lies the captains quarters. The lower section of the scarabs oversized 'eyes' is created in thick glass and acts as a port hole to viewing out in to the cosmos beyond the ships hull and the current heading of the vessel. A single, double-sized bed faces that direction, with a pair of pillows, silken cloth sheets, and simple red comforter over the mattress. A night stand is placed on each side of the bed. A standing mirror with a silver frame, a dresser, and a wooden 'stocks' is placed on one side of the room, with a simple desk, chest, and scattered instruments of craft haphazardly placed upon the deck. The room is partitioned off by a curtain to the south, where a small personalized galley, complete with a small stove, dining table, and storage shelves, is located. This galley has doors which lead to the personal 'head' (restroom) for the captain and first mate, the communal bathing area, main hallway, and to a staircase shortcut directly to the main deck and the bridge of the ship.

(2) Communal Baths

Located towards the bow of the ship, the importance and luxury of hygiene was not lost on the creator of this vessel. The bath house and washing area is capable of comfortably accommodating the crew so long as it is done in shifts. This is also where the communal 'head' is located. It has exits leading to the captain's galley, as well as to the crews' galley.

(3) Crews Galley

Location where the crew gathers for food and simple recreation. A curtain doorway separates the Galley from the kitchen, and the cold storage room.

(4) Main Passageway

The primary hallway for moving about the ship. It has dual, double-wide staircases on the port and starboard sides leading up to the Main Deck, a double-wide central doorway leading to the hold and to the ships exits, as well as access to the crews common quarters on the port side, as well as the officers quarters where the maids' rooms are located on the starboard.

(5), (6), (7) Holds

Located to the aft of the ship, these rooms are intended to house the cargo and supplies that the Eve is currently hauling. It is located close to the entrance/exit of the ship in order to more quickly facilitate the loading and unloading of goods. When landed upon a surface, the entrance to the hold is lifted up off the ground by 10 feet, and is accessible via a retractable ramp through a pair of double doors. The ceiling of these holds, as well as of all the other rooms on this level is roughly 15 feet tall, though venting, piping, and thickness of supporting floorboards does cause it to vary in certain locations.

The Main Deck

(1) The Bridge

The very first room that Arcadia was introduced to. This is the central control room for piloting and commanding the vessel. A pair of spelljamming helms rest upon a raised dais and an odd looking alter with arcane sigils, runes, and glyphs. The viewports of the Eve's enlarged, glass 'eyes' allow sight to guide the piloting of the ship. Metallic, double doors provide egress into and out of the room.

(2) Main Hallway and Training Hall

A large, central hallway that serves as a muster point for the crew, as well as wide, open space for performing combat training actions and group activities. Towards the bow of the ship, the hallway provides access to the Bridge, as well as stairways to the weaponry on the upper deck as well as the captains quarters on the lower deck. Towards the center of the ship, there are doorways to the infirmary, the quartermasters office, the central Forge. There are double-wide stairways for access both to the lower decks as well as the upper decks along the starboard and port sides. Towards the aft, there are entrances to the Crystal Room.

(3) Infirmary

Located towards the center of the ship, on the starboard side. Crew members who have sustained injury's or suffer from illness can expect to be treated here. This station is typically manned by Liliana.

(4) Quartermaster

Located towards the center of the ship, on the port side. Crew members looking for equipment or funds when leaving for surface missions, shore leave, or defending the ship. This station is typically manned by Liliam.

(5) The Forge

Located at the center of the ship. This is Cassius' workshop and is where the majority of fabrication, manufacturing, and enchanting gets performed for things being produced for either the ship or the crew. Books, journals, and scrolls of his research are scattered about in one corner, with the forge itself in a spot of prominence in the center, back of the room.

(6) The Crystal Room

Located at the aft section of the main deck. The crystal housed here is the manifestation of a magic made physical and generated by Arcadia as part of 'The Ritual'. The crystal structure is currently about the size of a melon, and has been fused to the ship within a ritualistic magic circle located within this room. Energy arcs in a spherical dome. Located in this room is also an alter with a cloth top and pillow, manacles located near the wall and alter, as well as a desk with journals, notes, and writing implements for observations of experiments. The ceiling of this room, as well as all other rooms on this level is 15 feet, though venting, piping, and thickness of supporting floorboards does cause it to vary in certain locations.

The Upper (Battle) Deck

(1) Weapons Platform (Bow)

Towards the bow (front) of the ship contains the primary weapon of the vessel, a mangonel. There is also a stairway leading down leading to the Main Deck. The mechanical attachment points for connecting the 'wings' of the vessel are located just below the platform.

(2) The Central Walkway

A thinner walkway running down the center of the upper deck that connects the bow of the ship to the aft. When the 'wings' are not deployed, this walkway has a covered dome-like ceiling over it. This dome is roughly 20 feet above the upper deck at its highest point.

(3) The Flight Deck and Weapons Platforms (Aft)

An open area at the aft of the ship for gathering members upon the battle deck to defend the ship, or leisurely enjoy the sights of the Astral Sea. Currently, a single ballista is mounted on the single weapons platform located here. There is a significant amount of available space here. When the 'wings' are not deployed, there is a dome that curves down and becomes flush with the side and rear railings.

Ship Schedule

The ship operates on a cycling 3 day rotation of duties, handled by the most senior officers aboard.

Timekeeping Method Employed

A simplistic, ship-wide communication method traditionally adopted by sailing ships, but repurposed for life aboard the Spelljammer. Timekeeping is performed using an age old method of using an hourglass for measuring the transference of time. This device is filled with enough sand to allow for 4 hours to transpire before it empties. At each turn of the glass, a pair of strings are tugged on to communicate the current operational shifts for the crew. Cassius has recorded a pair of messages and sounds accompanied by two, incredibly long threads of string. For the yellow thread, he records the follow messege: "*Bosun's Whistle* Attenshion, Attenshion.". For the blue thread, the illusionary sound of a double bell strike is recorded. This thread is tugged multiple times, with each pull signifiying a 4 hour period has transpired, resetting once 8 bells has tolled (either at 'midnight' or at 'noon').
