Golem

A type of humanoid construct powered by an Earth spirit. Most commonly employed for defense or military use.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Golems are traditionally humanoid, but may be constructed in any shape. The defining trait is the containment of an Earth Elemental in the construct's core, which provides the intelligence and animates the materials.   Golems may be constructed out of any mineral, including clay, iron, or even mithral. They could be any size, though the larger they were, the smaller their control field relative to the core. The controller of a house-sized golem, for instance, would be obliged to ride its shoulder.

Behaviour

The housing of the Golem body has no behaviour, being inert matter. However, it is possible to enchant the housing of a golem to impose a loyal and obedient personality onto the contained elemental. Allowing the elemental to keep its free will usually ends with the elemental tearing its housing apart to return to Terra, so this is common practice.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

In addition to the strength stemming from the earth elemental core, golems can be fitted with any number of additional tools, depending on the task they were created for. Additionally, housing the earth elemental within a construct rather than simply summoning one allowed the creator greater control over the elemental's will.
